Color Burst

Galentine’s Blog Hop!

Welcome to our Scrap N Stamp February Blog Hop!  Our theme for our hop & challenge this month is Galentine’s- celebrating friendships with cards you would make for your girlfriends!

Coffee and friends are the perfect blend for me so I knew I wanted to use my  MFT  Miss You a Latte  set.  I stamped, coloured and die cut her and her grande coffees for two.

Next I decided she needed a background and since I’ve been playing with the Ken Oliver Color Burst powders this week I thought it would be perfect.  Color Burst is a highly concentrated water colour pigment that let’s you achieve amazing watercolor backgrounds quickly and easily. No special tools or brushes needed.  It’s perfect if you want  the  watercolour look but don’t want the fuss.   I love the colorful spatters  you can get with a quick sprinkle of powder and a quick mist of water – the possibilities are endless.  You can check out Ken’s tutorial here

So after creating several amazing backgrounds I choose a panel and die cut it with  the new Tim Holtz Falling Hearts Die.  I mounted it askew and trimmed the card down to fit. I used one my trimmings to stamp my “let’s meet for coffee soon’ from the MFT Coffee Break sentiment set and mounted on my card. Assembled it all together with my coffee girl and a little foam tape to add depth.

I finished off the card with a little bling by filling a few of the hearts with Crystal  Stickles  because what is Galentines without sparkle?

Tuesday with Tara {take 238} Be Creative

Happy Tuesday!

I’ve been playing around with a mix of some new & old supplies, working on ideas for our February Blog Hop- (coming up on Friday, Feb. 7).  One idea had me pulling out Color Burst powders (I used some I’ve had for a few years, but tried to pick colors similar to the new ones in this Sunrise Color Burst Trio by MFT).  The card I’m sharing today is a sort of happy accident…  I set the piece I was inking on another sheet of cardstock and THIS is the overflow spray from my spritzing and shaking happily away with my Color Burst 🙂

The colorful splatters you can get with Color Burst is one of my favorite things about it!  I decided to go ahead and trim it down for a card front!  In the spirit of keeping it simple, a fabulous sentiment was in order.  It seemed perfect for the Crafty & Creative stamps by Gina K Designs!  There are two stamps in this little set, and the second one is stamped inside my card.  Crafty friends really are the greatest friends!  And these Gina K stamps really are a dream to work with- I love the crisp black image I got using them with Nocturne Versafine Clair!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 233} Happy Hello

Happy Tuesday and happy New Year’s Eve! Today I’m sharing a project I’ve had set aside on the back-burner for a while. I created this in the midst of my fall & Christmas projects, when I still kinda had some summer inspiration hanging on. The cards are simple, and so is the technique, but I’ve got a bit of a step by step tutorial for you to finish of the year right 🙂

I used a mix of products here, but I’m focusing on the paper I made using some of the leaves & background images from the Toucan Paradise set by Concord & 9th.

I love the tropical leaves and other design elements on this set- it’s so much fun! Here’s where I wanted to share how I created the background, which is my own variation of the Joseph’s Coat Technique. Unfortunately, I’m having technical difficulties and getting this lovely little question mark instead of an image.

Once you’ve checked out my cards, please pop over to my personal blog for the quick tutorial on this technique 🙂

Here’s a look at the second card I made with my background paper!

I just love the colorful leaves against the muted background, hope you do too!

Inky hugs,

Tara
