Tuesday with Tara {take 300} Some Faves

Today I’m celebrating a blogging milestone- It’s my 300th Tuesday with Tara post on the SNS blog!  I like to reflect back a bit when I hit a milestone like this one, and today I’m sharing a few of my faves from the past 100 posts with you.

Looking back, these last 100 posts cover a little over 2 years, and the past 2 years show a bit of a style change to me towards simplicity.  I’ve dealt with a lot of health issues in that time (a journey I’ll probably always be on!) and haven’t had the same amount of time or energy to devote to card making- or any sort of making!  Inky art is still a form of therapy for me and the online community (that includes YOU) is such a blessing!  Thank you for being a part of my life- and welcome if you’re new to Scrap ‘N Stamp and my Tuesday with Tara posts!

These are the faves that caught my eye this week… you might get a totally different assortment if you ask me later to pick some!  I’m including links to the original blog post for each one, please check them out for more details.

Yellow Simplicity

This is a pretty recent card and I absolutely love the simplicity of it.  The combination of the lemons, Kraft card stock (always a fave of mine!) and some great texture & shine really work together.

Happy Brushstroke Flowers

What can I say except I’m in love with the Brushstroke Flowers dies!  It was so much fun mixing textures, patterns & colors together for this card and it definitely brings some happiness.

Woodgrain Birthday Wishes

Autumn is my favorite season and green my favorite color… so I think you can probably see why I love this card so much!   It’s also the same woodgrain 3D embossing folder you saw on the floral card above- just great elements you can use over & over again!

Geometric Tag Bookmark

I haven’t done a lot of tags lately, but I love the freedom they give me to just experiment.  I’m also trying to get back into reading more in the past couple of years, so tag bookmarks are just fun!  I love this bold design and all the organic elements within it.

Type Talk Thank You

Concord & 9th has a way of just nailing it with amazing stamp designs… and this ‘type talk’ stamp set is no exception.  I once again had a great time with Kraft and some inky fun on that typewriter!

Toucan Paradise (Wild About You)

Yep, it’s another Kraft card- this one featuring awesome tropical stamps by Concord & 9th and some simple stamping with Distress Oxide that I just couldn’t resist.  At a glance, you really wouldn’t know it’s as simple as it is!

And that’s a start- a few of my faves in the last 100 of my 300 Tuesday with Tara posts!   I hope you like them too!   Here’s to the next 100…

Inky hugs,

Tara

Whimsical Winter

Hello and Happy Sunday, I hope you all have had a wonderful weekend. It feels like forever since I have posted. Life sure gets in the way of crafty fun doesn’t it, lol.

I decided to play along with the monthly challenge that we featured over at the Scrap’n Stamp Challenge page on Facebook. This month’s challenge was Christmas in July. I also used our featured product of the month which is Concord and 9th.

I pulled out The Christmas Cottage stamp set from Concord and 9th that I had purchased last year thinking I would create Christmas cards with it. Sadly I never touched it until this point, so yay for the challenge and product spotlight.

I began by die cutting some white card stock down to 5 1/4 x 4 using my Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle. From there, I pulled out my Misti, some inks and some masking paper to create the focal image for the card. I stamped the little cottage onto both the masking paper and the white diecut panels, using chocolate brown and black ink for the multiple layers. Once I had that done I fussy cut the little cottage mask and applied it to the stamped image, and went on to stamp the beautiful trees.

Once I was done with the stamping I actually fussy cut around the images, as I did not have the coordinating dies. At first I thought maybe I would do a shaker card but changed my mind. Instead, I decided to keep it clean and simple. I die cut a couple more panels using Bristol cardstock and the same stitched dies. I wanted everything to blend together once it was assembled. I decided to pull out my distress oxides and play around with a winter sunset, which actually turned out more like Northern lights so that’s what they are haha. Love “happy accidents” as Bob Ross would say. To create the background I did use my life-changing blending brushes from Picket Fences. I have to say I really love them, the blend is just so smooth.

I allowed the distress oxide to settle and dry a little bit before moving on to adding the snowflake to the background. I used texture paste, some glitter and some of this Floral soft (fluffy-stuff) I had in my stash to add an extra dimension, sparkle, and interest to the scene. While I was waiting for the background to dry, I pulled out the Christmas cottage stamp set once more along with my Misti and Versa Clair nocturn ink to add the sentiment right onto the panel. Word of caution, heat set it as it takes a bit longer to dry and will smudge very easily. For one of the cards I had to cut down another panel and add a hill because I smudged the sentiment very badly.

After I made sure everything was completely dry, I popped up the stamped image onto the background panel and used fun foam to adhere all of that to the black card base which measured 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 which is my typical go-to for cards. I hope you enjoyed this and found some inspiration, please come over and join the Christmas fun on our Scrap’n Stamp Challenge page, we love seeing what you create and there is a chance to win a prize as well. Share a photo of your card on our wall and get your name entered to win a $50 gift certificate to Scrap’n Stamp! You’ve got until July 31st to post. Make sure to hashtag it for another chance to win #SNSChristmasinJuly

Have a wonderful week a head

Using up your scraps with a CUPPA LOVE

Good morning crafty friends! Amy here with my last post for Scrap N’ Stamp. It’s been a pleasure creating with these fun products and alongside some AMAZING ladies!

Today I have a little fun tutorial to use up your scraps along with Spellbinder’s CUPPA LOVE die set.

Here’s the fun and BRIGHT card I made using up a few pieces of scrap along with some adhesive.

I started by cutting 1/4′”strips out of my collection of scrap cardstock pieces. I then applied Be Creative Adhesive sheet to the back of a piece of copy paper cut to 4.25″x 5.5″. I  then peeled of the release paper and started lining up my strips…really quick and easy! ;o) I started with the colors of the rainbow but lost a bit  of the ROY G BIV order when I cut it down for my panel. BUT I still think it’s fun and pretty! lol

I applied Candied Apple Distress Oxide to Bristol Smooth paper,  straight from the pad, no blending tool and used that to die cut the cup from CUPPA LOVE. I  then used Vintage Photo Distress Oxide applied to Bristol Smooth to die cut the Coffee portion from the die set  as well. I adhered it all together and added some leaves and a little heart from the same set to complete my mug. Some little white gel pen highlights and some Nuvo Crystal Glaze applied to the coffee and heart finished it off…doesn’t it look good enough to drink???

A sentiment from Art Impressions Latte Love Set stamped with Black Onyx Versafine Ink die cut with MFT-  Fishtails completed my sentiment. I adhered the panel to black cardstock and applied it to my base card with fun foam. A natural hemp ribbon finished off my card.

So  there we have it, a fun and relatively easy way to use up some scraps to get a BRIGHT background for your cards.

I sure hope you’ve enjoyed this tutorial and don’t forget to check out the LOVE IS IN THE AIR Challenge over on or FB page here.

Happy Craftin’!

~hugs~

Amy
