I have had lots of questions from everyone about the new Tim Holtz Distress Markers since we added them to the store. Most of you aren’t sure what makes them different than the other markers that you have in your stash so I thought I would share this terrific video from Tim Holtz.

Tim explains all about the markers themselves and shows you how to use them in different ways. Plus he compares them to his other products like the Distress Ink pads and Distress stains. I love his videos because they just explain everything so well and I’m always inspired to get out my stuff and play. As you will see these markers are very cool so take a look…

Now that you’ve seen the video I know you are going to want to try them so here’s a link to the complete line (available as open stock) in our store. Click here>> to see all the Distress Markers.

I hope this helps to answer your questions.

Happy crafting!

April 13, 2012

Hello everyone!

I’m sorry that I haven’t gotten around to posting the card pics for March and selecting a winner for the Sketch Challenge but I have been dealing with a lot of personal stuff for the last few weeks and I just couldn’t keep up with all the things that I had to do. I don’t usually post personal stuff on the blog but I didn’t want everyone to think I had just forgotten or couldn’t be bothered. There really were a lot of things happening and I’m sure you will all understand when I tell you that in the last week my husband broke his foot, our basement flooded and I injured my right eye and am going in for surgery on it today. All that on top of recovering from a broken left arm (that happened in late January) which has prevented me from working at my usual pace. It’s been quite a challenge but I’m sure we are through the worst of it and I’m looking forward to getting everything back to normal.
I will do my best to post the winner on the blog early next week and apologize for leaving you all wondering what was happening. We will suspending the monthly Sketch Challenges for awhile but I want to thank all of you that have participated. There are lots of great sketch challenges on the internet and I hope you will continue to challenge yourselves and have fun creating and playing.
Kate

Hi everyone! It’s that time again for another fun sketch challenge. I hope you are enjoying them and we love seeing the cards that you create.

Before I show you this month’s sketch I want to announce the winner of the February Sketch Challenge prize….and the winner is LAUREN BREKELMANS.

Congratulations Lauren! Your $10 Scrap ‘n Stamp Gift Certificate will be emailed to you shortly. A big thanks again to everyone that participated.

This month we are going to give you another little bonus prize in addition to our usual $10 Scrap ‘n Stamp Gift Certificate. If you purchase a digi stamp from March 8th – 31st and use it on your card then we will send you a coupon for a FREE digi (of the same value) that you can use during the month of April. It’s like buying one and getting one FREE. You don’t have to use a digi stamp but if you do you will get a FREEBIE! Gotta love those FREEBIES.

So what does this month’s sketch look like? Well, here it is…

Kim made this super cute card with one of the digis from our January release called Milo Hanging Out 4005C. I love how she cut out the towels hanging on the line a second time and popped them up with foam dots.

The Sizzix Framelits set – Tickets 657569 was used for some of the layers and then the image and mat were cut out with the Spellbinders Deckled Rectangles S4-202. This is the perfect card when you want to send someone a little encouragement.

Now it’s your turn. We can’t wait to see what you create with this sketch.

Sketch Challenge Guidelines…

Our Monthly Sketch Challenge is here to encourage and inspire you to use the products that you buy from Scrap ‘n Stamp. Sketch Challenges are a great way to try a new layout on your cards or perhaps incorporate design elements that you haven’t used before. We hope that they will get you thinking outside the box and trying new things. The first Thursday of every month we will post a new sketch and one or two sample cards that we have made to show you how we used it. Then it’s your turn to see what you can create!

And…if you want to share we would love to see your cards & projects and include them in our monthly post. It’s so much fun to see all the different ways the sketch can be used and then when you need ideas all you have to do is click on one of the Sketch Challenge posts and there will be lots of inspiration there for you.

As a little bonus we will be giving away a $10 Scrap ‘n Stamp Gift Certificate each month to one lucky participant that is selected from everyone that submits a picture or project showing how they used the sketch.

Here’s how you can participate:

Create a card or other paper crafted project using the sketch as your inspiration. You can use the sketch in any way you want. Feel free to flip, rotate, change or replace the shapes in any way you want but the general layout of your finished project needs to be recognizable as the sketch.

To be entered into the monthly draw you must meet the following requirements:

You must be registered at Scrap ‘n Stamp and have signed up to receive our email newsletter. If you are not registered yet you can do it here>> or local customers can do it at our retail store.

You don’t have to use any products that you have purchased from us but we love it when you do and you will receive a bonus entry for every product that you use on your project that you have bought at Scrap ‘n Stamp.

There are several ways that you can submit your card or project to us:

Send us an email using our Contact Us form to let us know that you have a picture you would like to share of your project and put SKETCH CHALLENGE PICTURE in the subject line. We will then send you instructions for submitting a picture of your card or project. After we receive your picture we will upload it to that month’s Sketch Challenge post and enter you in the monthly draw. We must receive your picture by the last day of the month.

You can mail your card or project to us at 27024 Fraser Hwy, Aldergrove, BC V4W 3L6. Your card or picture must be received by the last day of the month. If you would like your project returned please include a self-addressed postage paid envelope. We will take a picture of your project and include it with that month’s post and display your project in our retail store.

If you live in the area or are visiting you can drop off your card or project at the store during regular business hours (Wed – Sat : 11am – 5pm) prior to the last day of the month. We will take a picture of your project and include it with that month’s post and display your project in our retail store. Your project can be picked up from the store the second week of the following month.

The Prize Draw:

The prize draw will take place the first week of the following month and the name of the winner will be posted on that month’s Sketch Challenge blog post and their Gift Certificate will be emailed to them within 48 hours.

Thanks for participating!
