Home is Where the Books Are!

Happy Friday! Today’s Random Acts of Cardness word is HOME, and I made a card that, for me, has lots of elements of home:

I’ve used two new stamp and die sets from Avery Elle, Feels Like Home and Feels Like Home Addition. So cute! I had to make sure I included books, a hot beverage (tea for me, please) and a cat. Everything is from the first set except for the reading koala and the sentiment, which come from the addition. Because I can’t help myself, I stamped and embossed with clear embossing powder before colouring everything with Copic markers.  To create a bit of flooring, I masked off the top part of my white panel and lightly applied my antique linen distress ink pad directly to the cardstock. (I should probably reink it, but it adds the perfect variations of colour at the moment!) I added my panel to my card base before arranging everyone into their little scene.

I’d love to see how you might interpret today’s word prompt! Enjoy your weekend.

Getting Ready for Canada Day!

Happy Monday! We’ve got Canada Day coming up this week, and so here’s my Canadian card!

This cute little Avery Elle stamp and die set is designed by Canadian Elena Roussakis! I stamped and embossed the adorable beaver and coloured him with Copics before die cutting. The larger of the two Whittle Wood Picture Frame dies seemed a perfect way to highlight him. For the background, I added a tiny panel of watercolour paper, that I first dipped in mermaid lagoon and mowed lawn distress ink, then when when dry added a few trees at the horizon. It still needed a little something, so I inlaid a few die cut Paper Smooches maple leaves using a scrap of red cardstock. (Do you still miss Paper Smooches, too? Scrap ‘n Stamp has a few stamp and die sets left if you want to add to your collection!) Finally, I tucked one of the sentiments from the stamp set under the corner of the twig frame.

Hope you’re looking forward to a great week! If you decide to do some shopping, remember to use 10Lindsey for 10% off your order!

Tuesday with Tara {take 55}

Happy Tuesday!  I’ve got a quick & easy card for you today- a one layer lovely, which are very rare for me, but I saw a card that inspired it and it just didn’t seem to need anything else 🙂

love you one layer

All I’ve used for this card is a sentiment and the little flower bit stamps from the Avery Elle Oh Happy Day set I’ve been loving on lately, a selection of Distress Inks and a heart stencil (this one is by Dina Wakely).  It’s all stamped on an ivory card.  I used washi tape to adhere the stencil to my card front, then I started with the largest flower stamp and moved on from there to fill in the heart shape.  The rough texture you see here is a look you may be familiar with if you are using clear stamps without ‘priming’ them, but I kinda liked the look for this card.  (You’ll get a much crisper image if you ink your stamps in Archival black ink first, before stamping with water based ink.)

It’s a very simple card that you could really play around with a variety of color and stencil shapes as well 🙂

Hope you have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
