Asian Lawn Fawn Card

Hi Peeps! Dawn here from the little mennonite blog with a new alcohol ink technique for you!

Directions:

Die cut a stitched rectangle out of Yupo Paper. Add an alcohol ink rainbow and let dry. Dry emboss with an Darice Embossing Folder. Sand raised areas for added dimension and interest. Adhere to an A2 card front.

Stamp out Lawn Fawn images. Colour Lawn Fawn unicorn from the Say What? Christmas Critters stamp set with an alcohol based marker. Stamp pink bubble heart with Hero Arts Bubblegum Pink Ink.

Die cut stars and hearts from Lawn Fawn’s Say What Gift Tags also die cut a Lawn Fawn Fancy Wavy Banner and stamp the word “smile” on the banner end from Lawn Fawn’s Year Three stamp set.

Assemble card as shown popping up the sentiment and critters with foam tape.

Please note that this alcohol ink panel was a complete failure until I embossed and sanded it… keep those “failures” they may be anything but.

Bear Hugs Enclosed!

Ok, how adorable is this  Hugs Set from Concord & 9th???

Good morning crafty friends, Amy here, with an UN-BEAR-ABLY cute card that’s perfect for sending someone a little pick me up. :o)

I started with Kraft cardstock which I cut out a circle with a circle die. I then embossed it using Tim Holtz Alterations- Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I ran my Vintage Photo Distress Ink over it to highlight the texture and then adhered the panel to my card base, that I also cut out a matching circle on the card front panel only.

I stamped the cute bear from the Hugs Set onto watercolor paper with Versafine Black Onyx Ink and heat set. I watercolored him up with Tombow Markers and waterbrush pen. Once dry, I fussy cut him out and set him aside.

Now, to complete the front of my card, I wanted to make it look like he was in a Tree House…so I added some leaves using Cottage Cutz- Greenery dies in two different colors of Green Cardstock. I then added a little button/twine, because how cute is that? lol! I also stamped the “HUGS” & “ENCLOSED” sentiments from the set onto Kraft paper and layered onto black cardstock to tie into my cardbase and make them look like little signs on his treehouse. ;o)

To finish off the card I adhered the bear to the inside panel of my card so him and his sign are peaking through the circle cutout on the front of the card- this helps to finish off the inside of my card as well. :o)

I sure hope you’ve enjoyed my lil’ card today and were inspired to get crafty today!

Happy Craftin’!

Hugs, Amy

Just Arrived! New Sizzix Textured Impressions Embossing Folders from Basic Grey.

Wow. These new embossing folders from Sizzix that were designed by Basic Grey are absolutely gorgeous! We have been anxiously waiting for them to arrive and they finally arrived yesterday. Yippee!!

The embossed images were inspired by their Eskimo Kisses paper collection and we still have some of the 6″ x 6″ paper pads left if  you want to coordinate everything.

There are eight (8) new sets and each set includes two (2) A2 embossing folders that are slightly larger (4 1/2″ x 5 3/4″) than the Cuttlebug A2 embossing folders so that your embossed design is actually 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ – the exact size of an A2 card. Definitely a plus when you are embossing the actual card front and want the design to go right to the edge. Some of the designs are definitely just for Christmas but others will work anytime. Let me show you….

This set is called Christmas & Thin Ice. Both of these backgrounds will work beautifully on all kinds of holiday projects – cards, gift tags, scrapbook pages, decorative boxes….the possibilities are endless! I love the contemporary script text.

657060

Called Dearly & Frost this set includes one folder that is definitely more of a winter/holiday theme but the other (Frost) could be used anytime.

657061

I think this set, called Diamonds & Snow Cap is terrific. It could be used for so many different types of projects and definitely doesn’t scream Christmas. Very versatile.

657062

Here’s another set, Evergreen & Snow Flowers that has one folder that is very wintery and the other that could be used for any occasion.

657063

Called Peppermint Twists & Scallops this set is so cute. I think you could use these backgrounds on holiday projects as well as birthday cards, gift tags, party favours and lots more.

657064

Plaid & Snowflakes is the name of this set and I think both of these folders are awesome. You can never have too many snowflakes for your holiday projects and the plaid is just a great all around texture that I’m sure you would use again and again.

657065

Called Powdered Sugar & Snow Globe this is definitely one of those sets that works for the holidays but you could also use the folder on the left for all kinds of other occasions. You could even cut the embossed design into strips and just use part of the image.  The holly and berries will definitely be a favourite for Christmas projects.

657066

And last but not least is the Sugar & Starry Night set. Both of these designs are very versatile and could be used throughout the year.

So, don’t let the names of some of these folders fool you – they aren’t just for Christmas or the holidays. They are folders that I’m sure you would find yourself using over and over again.

We have lots of new products arriving right now so be sure to check out What’s New to see all the latest.
