Let’s Bond

Happy March pepps!  Dawn here from the little mennonite blog.  This March my parent’s will be married for 38 years.  Every year they request that I make cards for them to give to each other.  Here is one of the cards.

Directions:

Make an A2 card with white cardstock.  Fold in half with a bone folder.  I thought brick/subway tiles would make a nice background; however, I did not have a stencil.  I created one with a piece of cardstock, pencil and exacto knife.

Then I inked my home-made stencil with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  (The green on the top of the card is post-it notes to prevent over inking.)

I added Weathered Wood Distress Ink to the sides and splashed some clear water droplets on top.

To create the sentiment cloud, I stamped the sentiment “Let’s Bond” from the My Favorite Things stamp set Cute Chemists.  Then I partially stamped the explosion cloud stamp from the My Favorite Things stamp set Cute Chemists around the “Let’s Bond” sentiment numerous times to create the completed cloud.

I stamped the boy and numerous containers from the Cute Chemists set with Memento Tux Black and coloured them with a alcohol based marker.  Then I cut a strip of black cardstock and adhered it to the bottom of the card.  I added all the other coloured images from the Cute Chemists stamp set and adhered them to the card with dry adhesive, as shown.

Strawberry Thanks Card

Dawn here from the little mennonite blog with a strawberry thanks card for you today.  Like many of you I await Spring and Summer and I love strawberries!  Here we go!

Directions:

Die cut the Paper Smooches Thanks Word die (twice) and other pieces of patterned Lawn Fawn paper as shown above.  Although I used older Lawn Fawn paper you can get the same effect by using this Lawn Fawn 6×6 paper pack.

To die cut the blue scalloped edge under the yellow, use the Lawn Fawn Ocean Wave Boarders die, as shown above.

Adhere patterned paper to an A2 card front.  Using the Lawn Fawn stamp set Sweet Friends stamp images and colour as shown.  Be sure the use Memento Tuxedo Black ink for the stamping so your alcohol ink markers won’t make the ink run.  Below is the directions for the strawberry.

Stunning Stamping with Mama Elephant

Hello friends!  My name is Dawn and I am at the little mennonite blog.  I have been blogging and card making for about 8 or 9 years, and scrapbooking on and off since I was a young teen.  I am so happy to be apart of the Scrap n Stamp team!  Today I will be working with the Mama Elephant stamp set Botanic Hello to create this simple, stunning card.

Directions:

Stamp the Mama Elephant’s Botanic Hello with Tuxedo Black Memento Ink onto white cardstock.  You need to use Tuxedo Black Memento Ink so you can colour the image with alcohol based markers without having the stamped image run.  Colour the Botanic image with alcohol based markers such as Tombow or Chameleon.  I recommend this set.  If you use colours with a few shades of difference between each colour to get a more stunning look.  (As oppose to using colours that are very closely related.)  After the colouring was complete I cut out the image with scissors made for fine details. Use glossy accents on all of the stamens.  Adhere image to an white A2 card front using foam squares.

Add Gelly Roll gold gel pen to the letters for added interest.

Stamp the “awesome” sentiment from the Mama Elephant stamp set with VersaMark ink.  Using Lawn Fawn’s white embossing powder on Lawn Fawn’s Black Licorice Cardstock heat emboss the sentiment.  Get a good heat gun here.  I recommend getting a brand named heat gun – from experience a generic brand does not last long.  Adhere the sentiment with a strip of Be Creative 3mm Tape (a Canadian product!) and give to someone AWESOME!
