Hi! I'm Tara and I've been creating and teaching classes in the paper crafting industry for 15 years in Western Canada. I closed my rubber stamp & scrapbook store in 2013 to get married & move to North Carolina, but my passion is still getting inky and sharing the love of this hobby wherever I can! I started out as a card maker, but over the years I have done it all- from cards & mini books, to scrapbooking & mixed media projects. I'm certified by both Ranger & Copic and I look forward to sharing some creative fun and maybe getting inky with you in one of my classes soon!

Tuesday with Tara {take 68}

Happy Tuesday!  I’ve got a simple card for you today, but I hope you like it!

moments-3I wanted to play a bit more with my new stamps & watercolor crayons by Tim Holtz, so I stamped off this pretty cone flower on a small piece of watercolor paper (this was a mini pad of pre-cut paper by Prima- such a handy size to play with!).  I scribbled my watercolor crayons onto my craft sheet and picked up the color with a wet paintbrush for this detailed image, then added extra water to the leftover color to create the subtle wash in the background.  I added a Dina Wakely sentiment along the flower stem- love this one, “don’t take these moments for granted.” A bit of Distress Stickles and metallic pen add a touch of shimmer to my blossom.

moments-1

I wanted to keep the card design simple here so I didn’t distract from the images.  I selected some olive cardstock and misted Distress Stain over a stencil for a tone on tone design, then layered that piece to give a slim black edge.  Some purple jute thread and jewels gave the bit of texture I needed to finish things off.

moments-2

Thanks so much for stopping by- and a shout out to my mom, who leaves me a comment every week 🙂  Love you mom!  I’d love to hear what any of you have been creating lately, or planning on creating… I’m still gravitating towards autumn colors and themes, but Christmas is going to sneak up on us, so I’ll be sharing some holiday cards with you soon!

Have a creative day!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday, and I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving!  I’m kinda a day late on this one, but I think the project I’m sharing today can be left on display for as long as autumn hangs on, until you switch up for winter/Christmas decorations!  Today I’m sharing a BLESSED banner I made to hang on our mantle this autumn.  In my typical last minute fashion (please tell me I’m not the only one!) I got it finished and hung just a couple days in advance of our Thanksgiving dinner 🙂

We have a wood stove instead of a traditional fireplace, so the vent doesn’t allow my banner to hang quite as low as I’d like it to, but I’m still pleased with how it looks!  I’ve used canvas and printed cardstock pennants by Prima for the base of my banner, and embellished quite simply with wooden letters (inked with Distress Ink) and die cut shapes.  I selected a few colors of cardstock and added a light misting of Distress Stain (each got a tone on tone mist as well as metallic Antique Bronze) and cut some Tattered Leaves (Sizzix/Tim Holtz) and hearts.  A few paper Prima flowers add some extra texture to some of the pennants.  I’ve tied them all together with one of my fave silk ribbons from my stash as a finishing touch.

Here’s a closer look at the individual pennants:

I hope you like it!  It was a fun project!

Inky hugs,

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is about Coffee & friends, and a cute autumn owl 🙂  autumn-coffee-lovin-2

This card was a fun one, with lots of fun elements working together.  The base is a 5×7 kraft card.  The background papers are from a 10cent paperback novel and a paper shopping bag!  The latte cup stamp & friends die are by Tim Holtz, as are the swirl die cuts.  This cute little autumn owl is by Unity Stamps.  I stamped him twice and layered the leaves with foam tape, adding a bit of stickles to them.  There’s nothing really complicated here, just a bunch of elements working together, just like coffee & friends!

I hope you like my card this week… I can’t believe Thanksgiving is coming up next week already, it’s kinda snuck up on me, even more so as I live south of the border right now- but I’ll be back with a Tuesday blog next week, regardless of  whatever affects the turkey dinner has on me 🙂

Have a creative day!

Inky hugs,

Tara
