Butterfly Thoughts

Hello to all, Kia here with you today to share this card which I have done for Day 8 of the Random Act of Cardness challenge, which is embossing. I have done the “paste” kind of embossing for my card.

I love this new die from Penny Black, for its simplicity and sweetness, so I thought I would do a card to show it off.

The stencil I am using for my background is from Picket Fence, which is done on my card base front. I first inked the stencil with Cracked Pistachio Oxide ink, inking just the part that would have contact with my card. I then placed the stencil over the card, ink side up, and taped it in place. This would be a bad time for the stencil to move!

I then applied the Distress Texture Paste across the inked area and smoothed it out. I made sure to leave a bit at the bottom for my sentiment. I was careful in removing the stencil and placed it in water straight away. I went ahead and washed my palette knife, and left the card to dry naturally.

I don’t use heat to dry paste or even inks as I do not like how it distorts the card. I would rather give the piece time to dry and move on to something else as it does so.

In this case I moved on to the butterflies that I ran through my Gemini Jr. and began to colour using Copic Markers. I used these colours in this order: YG03, Y13, BG11, RV10, BV01 giving each 2 layers of ink. I then styled the butterflies giving them movement for my card.

Before attaching them to my card I did some splatters with the Cracked Pistachio, Worn Lipstick and Squeezed Lemonade. I then attached the Butterfly String to the card front using foam squares and Nuvo adhesive at the sides.

To finish up I added drops of Crystal Drops, and stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Tulip Red.

I do hope you enjoy this card, and thank you for your visit. Following are Affiliate links to the Store for the products that I have used to make this card. at no extra cost to you.
