Easy Alcohol Pearl Backgrounds

Hi stamping friends and welcome back. It’s Sandi here and today I’m sharing how I created these fast and fun Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds for my cards.

Tim Holtz introduced the new Ranger Alcohol Pearls back in January at Creativation 2019. There are 12 glorious colors to choose from and after you see my video and how much fun and easy these are, I’m sure you are going to want to play too.

Yes, they are similar to using the Mixative with the regular Alcohol inks, but the difference is, the pearlization is blended right into the ink, wherein with the Mixative, it is added on top and creates a white sheen on the paper. With the pearls, you get a beautiful true color with a pearlized finish on it.

I shared a video below so I’m not going to go into too much detail. The colors for the first card are Tranquil and Sublime and what I call the “blotchy” technique where you can use the Alcohol Ink Mini Applications to spread the ink around on the Yupo Paper and blotch it out by adding more ink and blending solution.

I’ve also used the beautiful My Favorite Things “Flowers In Bloom” Stamps and Die set for today’s projects, LOVE water colouring these flowers and today’s are done with the Gansai Tambi watercolours. You could also use water pan sets, watercolour pencils/crayons, Tonic Shimmers, Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, DWM Scribble Sticks, Zig Markers, Tombow Markers or Distress Inks, the list is endless.

Card #2 uses Enchanted and Deception colors blended together on the left and the yellow Alchemy on the right – they are FABULOUS together.
I black heat embossed the flower images onto my watercolor paper to help control the paints and provide a nice deep black outline to make them pop from my backgrounds.

For card #3 I used Mineral and Smolder with LOTS of blending solution to create the run technique or as I like to call it the “waterfall” technique – it’s my fav!

Here’s the short video I created to show you how I like to play with these inks. You can watch it here or over on my YouTube Channel in H.D.
