It’s Friday, yay, and today’s word for Scrap ‘n Stamp’s Random Acts of Cardness challenge is… HEAT! When I picked the prompt, I certainly didn’t realize how extreme the heat would be in some parts of Canada this summer. Let’s hope things settle down soon.
I’m representing heat on my card in two ways… heat embossing and a warm colour palette:
This floral set by Concord & 9th makes everything easy! (stamp set, stencils and dies) I used the biggest stamp in the set, which as you can tell, is larger than an A2 card base! It’s stamped in Versafine onyx black ink and embossed in black sparkle embossing powder. Then comes the magically easy part! 😀 The stencil set includes ones to colour in just the leaves, just the flowers, both at the same time (say if you wanted a more monochromatic look); and also a mask to cover the flowers to colour in a background and a flower mask with background stripes, which is what I used. For easy blending, I used distress inks in squeezed lemonade, carved pumpkin and crackling campfire (heat!) for the flowers, and rustic wilderness for the leaves. I used squeezed lemonade to add the stripes along the edges, letting them fade toward the centre. For the sentiment, I added crackling campfire to white cardstock before embossing a birthday sentiment from My Favorite Things’ Birthday Bears.
If you have yet to try a stamp-and-stencil set, I highly recommend it! If shopping is on your agenda this weekend, don’t forget you can use the code 10Lindsey for 10% off your order! Have a good one!
