When It Snows

Hello to you, Kia here with you today for day 22 of the Random Act of Cardness series. Today’s prompt is Scenes, and that is what I have done using Penny Black stamps and distress inks.

First I am using Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper for my card today. I have trimmed it to fit a 4.5×6 inch card base, matting with black card from Gina K Designs.

This card was not planned, it sort of fell together. I started with the birch trees and took it from there. Clearly, finding a stamp that would fit and balance the card would be nice. Alas, I came upon the Quietude stamp, which I think is perfect.

To start I stamped the Birch trees on a piece of copy paper, then stamped on the watercolour paper using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.

I used the mask to cover the trees and stamped the Quietude stamp using Rustic Wilderness distress ink, with nothing on the reeds. I then added Walnut Stain spritzed with water to the reeds, then to ensure they were waterproof I went over them with a brown Sharpie fine liner pen.

As I went I let the colours dry before adding more layers of colour which helps keep the colours bright.

To finish up my scene I used Bleedproof white watercolour to paint the snow, adding in bits of Abandoned Coral, which I also added to the heart in the tree. I was also wearing a coral top, hence the coral below the picture too!

Using white Gouache mixed with water I added a lot of splatter for the snow, and while still wet I added splatters of Perfect Pearls.

The scene is matted with Gina K Design black onyx card which is glued to a Neenah card base.

Thanks so much for joining me today. Following are Affiliate links to the store for the products I used for this card, at no extra cost to you.
