MFT Happy Birthday

Hi all… Nancy here with a card using some items from My Favorite Things.  I struggle with this stamp, but am pleased with how it turned out for this card.  It’s one of those stamps that I just “had to have” when I first saw it…. but it honestly is sitting and collecting dust.  I’m glad I found an excuse to grab it from my bin to play with it.

It’s a pretty straight forward card… I stamped the greeting in two different ink colours, using the second generation stamping technique right on to the front of a side fold card.  What I mean is that I stamped the A and P in happy with full strength ink and the H P and Y after stamping off the ink.  I added a strip of black behind the patterned paper that is along the side before adhering it to the card front.  A few pieces of bling and sequins and the card was done!

The art of a clean and simple card is leaving a good chunk of unaltered space on the front of your card… sometimes it’s hard to walk away, leaving empty space… but it’s worth it!

Strong and Beautiful

Yes You Are!

My card today is in honor of International Women’s Day and all the Strong and Beautiful women in my life.

I chose to use the Picket Fence Studios Jill  stamp and MFT’s Beautiful Blessings 2 for the sentiment.

I’ll be honest with you. I didn’t know it was International Women’s Day until I woke up this morning and saw it on a post. I was instantly inspired to make a card to celebrate. What I had originally planned for today I’ll share later in the month.

I stamped the image using my stamp positioning tool. Not because it didn’t stamp well but because I knew I was going to use my Prismacolor pencils and they tend to dull the stamped lines. I stamp the image, leave the stamp in place, color the image, put it back into the stamp positioning tool and re stamp the image. It sharpens the image up. I should’ve taken a pic to show you the before and after.

I used the Lawn Fawn Stitched Rectangle dies to cut a panel and then stamped the sentiment using Versafine Nocturne ink.  I adhered the panel to a white card base using craft foam.

Happy Stampin’
and thanks so much for visiting!!

*Wreath Builder Galentines Day*

Hello everyone!  Nancy here this morning with a great card….  I pulled out my Gina K Wreath Builder and some colourful inks and had a little fun creating another card with a Galentine’s Day theme to go along with the month long challenge.

To make this card, I started with a 5 1/4″ square piece of white cardstock and placed it in my Misti with the larger of the two Gina K Wreath Builder templates.  For one of the turns in the Wreath Builder, I had to tuck one corner through the hinges to make it all work.  I knew I wanted my wreath more in the corner so I placed my first stamp off-centre, pretty close to the one edge of the square of white cardstock.  I just kept adding layers and colours until I was happy with the outcome.

Once it was all stamped up, I cut down the panel to 3 7/8″ to 5 1/8″, keeping the wreath off centre.  I was inspired by a card I saw by Jennifer McGuire several months ago so my placement and colours are similar to what she did…

The inks I used are ones I had on hand but you can certainly find some great inks at Scrap ‘n Stamp…  like these Colorbox Inks or some of the new GinaK inks or the inks by Lawn Fawn (you can get some great colour groupings in the mini pads!).  While you can use the Tim Holtz inks for stamping I do find that they are better for ink blending than stamping.
