Bold Merry Christmas

Hello all – Kia here with you today to share this Bold Merry Christmas card.

Our challenge theme this month is “White Christmas”, and I kept that in mind for the Christmas portions of the card, but I went Bold on the card stock, using Gina K. Cherry Red.

For the panel I used Penny Black’s Stitched Stackers die. I tore the strip of Vellum paper viewing it on the card panel to see how I liked the tears to look, meaning the height of the piece, then wrapped it around the panel, gluing the vellum to card where the flower would be.

For dimension I then attached the panel to my card base using Be Creative tape and fun foam.

I stamped the Winter Flower and Leaves with VersaMark Embossing ink and heat embossed with Brutus Monroe Gold Gilded Embossing powder, then arranged everything on the card front.

Stamping the sentiment on the red card stock I heat embossed with the gold embossing powder and attached to the centre of the flower.

To finish I added Nuvo Crystal Drops in Autumn Red. I wish I had gold crystal drops, but the red also worked.

Thanks so much for joining me today. Following are Affiliate Links to the products that I have used for this card, at no additional cost to you.

Tuesday with Tara {take 230} White Christmas Throwback

Happy Tuesday! As I was preparing for the blog hop and our December Challenge, I came across an old blog post featuring cards of the same theme. The best part is that I still like the cards, so I knew I had to share them here this month!

I made these cards for a class I taught back in 2010. Since it was so long ago, the exact products I used may not be available. However, many of you may still have these stamps & dies in your collection… or something similar that would allow you to create similar cards! Enjoy this throwback!

Now, on to my White Christmas cards!

White Christmas with Blue

This first one features the new Tim Holtz snowman, die cut out of sticky back canvas which has been attached to white cardstock to firm it up. I love the texture of the canvas here and the texture of Tim’s snowflake embossing die as well! We added a touch of Distress Ink here. The inside features a smaller oval with some snowflakes stamped on it (also Tim Holtz) and a sentiment on the oval as well.

White Christmas with Pink

This next card features more Tim Holtz goodness… his fabulous snowflake edge die! I LOVE this thing- it’s so pretty as an edge or as a focal point, as I’ve used it here. I added some Glitter Ritz to a snowflake (this one came with the snowman die) and a bit of bling and layered it over some Whitewash core’dinations cardstock. The sentiment is by Hero Arts.

White Christmas with Kraft

This last card is my personal fave from the three… probably because I got to use kraft cardstock & the twine I love on it! I used the oval from the first card, which was dry embossed with snowflakes. Next I layered it over a piece of Basic Grey paper (from their ‘basics’ line) that I white embossed snowflakes on. The sentiment is Hero Arts again and the blingy pendant is by Maya Road.

Hope you like my White cards! It was a fun challenge and it’s so nice to be reminded that white does not have to look cheap or boring. Especially at Christmas, it can be very elegant when you add texture and just a hint of colour 🙂 I’d love to know…. which card is your favorite?

Inky hugs,

Tara

White Christmas Theme Continues

Happy Monday, my friend! It’s Deb here today, one of the Scrap ‘N Stamp Design Team. Today’s card continues on with our White Christmas theme, for our recent Scrap ‘N Stamp Blog Hop. If you missed it, you’ll want to see all of the amazing projects! You can start at the Scrap ‘N Stamp post HERE with Tara. There’s 2 things you’ll want to do. First, leave a comment on each of the blog posts, as you hop along. You’ll be automatically entered to WIN a $50 Scrap ‘N Stamp Gift Card! Second, take advantage of the FREE GIFT available from Scrap ‘N Stamp! It’s a gorgeous Snowflake Die from Dee’s Distinctively. But it’s only while supplies last – so hurry! (shipping must be paid at time order placed). My card for the White Christmas blog hop wasn’t strictly white – I also included red & green, for that traditional look. So today, for my White Christmas theme continuing, I’ve only added gold.

WHITE CHRISTMAS THEME CONTINUES

I don’t have a stand-alone snowflake die, so I used the beautiful Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster die to replace the ‘O’ in Joy.

Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster

Isn’t this pretty? Sparkly paper, gold foil and brushed gold add add opulence to minimalist card.

CARD DETAILS

Use the Hero Arts Snowflake Cluster die, and die cut it twice; once from gold foil paper, and again from Lawn Fawn white sparkle paper. Next, use letter dies to die cut the J and Y twice each; once from white cardstock, and again from gold foil paper.  I used letter dies I have in my stash; the ones from MFT carried by Scrap ‘N Stamp are very similar. Layer the letters together with the gold on the bottom, slightly off-set. Repeat this with the snowflakes. Use the Sticky Dots for easy coverage of the intricate dies.  As I was about to attach these to my white layer, I decided that it needed more texture. So using a dots embossing folder from my stash, I ran it through my machine.

Create a white cardbase, and attach a panel of gold cardstock to it with glue, Next attach your white layer, with foam tape. Finally, attach your die cuts to the front, using foam dots. The last touch is to add some gold spots with the Nuvo Shimmer Pen in Midas Touch.

I propped a piece of the gold paper behind the card in the photo above, so you can see the lovely colour and texture of it.

ARE YOU HOPING FOR A WHITE CHRISTMAS?

I always love a white Christmas; especially when the celebrations are at my house! (then I don’t have to worry about driving in the snow). It rarely happens here in Vancouver, but once in a while, we do see the white stuff. I hope you’re inspired by today’s card, as well as those by the Design Team in our White Christmas blog hop.
