Day 12 {Tuesday with Tara take 379} Hero Arts

Happy Tuesday, and happy Day 12 of the SNS 12 Days of Christmas!  I get to feature another classic stamp company… and yet I’m not using a single stamp on my project today!

I’ve chosen to share a perfect last minute gift wrap idea, featuring a fabulous Hero Arts stencil & a fun die cut set.

Aren’t these gift tags adorable? I just had to use both shapes included in this die set (though I confess the coffee mug is what drew me in!)  I have a ton of creative ideas for these… but Christmas is coming in less than a week, y’all.  I just simply ran out of time!
These little pillow boxes were found at a dollar store and are a perfect blank canvas for so many things.  Since I love using Distress Oxide Inks on Kraft, I chose to pull out some Distress Oxide Sprays to use with this snowflake stencil.  Any holiday design, or even something like simple polka dots, would be perfect for these little packages!  I’ve used Rustic Wilderness for my green & Lumberjack Plaid for the red.   I love the splotchy oxidation on these snowflakes!

Even though I was going ultra simple for these packages & tags, a touch of glitter for the toppers didn’t take me any more time and really looks fabulous.  Sheer ribbon to tie it all together adds a bit of softness.

I’ve got plans to do more of these in different colors- they are perfect for a small gift or some Christmas cash!  They are actually *just* large enough for a simple A2 sized card to fit inside them, as well!

Today you can take advantage of all 12 days of savings & surprises- including the newest, 25% off Hero Arts!  Check out all the fun details across social media (like instagram) and have fun shopping!

Inky hugs & Merry Christmas y’all!

Day 5 {Tuesday with Tara take 378} Impression Obsession!

Happy Tuesday! I hope you’re enjoying the 12 Days of Christmas sale, it’s been fun seeing the fresh inspiration daily and I love seeing so many fantastic companies featured!  Today I get to feature a company that’s been around for a really long time.  They were among the first I discovered when I began stamping and their beautiful designs, especially sentiments, have been favorites for me!  (A quick search confirms it for me- the company started in 1998, so not long after I began making cards!)

I was really excited when I started seeing Classic Pooh designs become stamps this year, and IO is one of the few companies doing it!  I’ve always had a soft spot for Eeyore so this set captured my heart.  It also has beautiful sentiments to coordinate- though it was tricky fitting one on the front of my card with this large image.

This is quite a simple 5.5×5.5″ card, with the focal image stamped in black on the smooth side of some watercolor card stock.   I colored loosely with watercolor pencil crayons and then worked on the base of the card while it dried.  I’ve used a snowflake stencil & Speckled Egg Distress Inks for the base card (Distress Oxide Spray on the Kraft base and Distress Ink for the edges around the image).    The patterned paper layer is from the sweet Knit Picky 6×6 pad by Lawn Fawn.    The sweet red paper bow was die cut from the Tim Holtz Christmas “Vault” set last year.

I had to do some careful partial inking of my sentiment to fit what I could on the card front… but I’ve included my favorite sentiment from the set on the inside of the card!

As part of the 12 Days of Christmas sale, IO will be 25% off throughout the sale period!  Go check out some of their beautiful designs, you’re sure to add some classics to your stamp collection!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Day 2 of 12 Days of Christmas – Penny Black

We are celebrating the 12 days of Christmas at Scrap’n Stamp and this is for Day 2 featuring Penny Black stamps.  Let’s get started, today I am using a Penny Black stamp called Holly Berry, along with Zig Clean Color Pens. Normally I would colour the front panel with the bright colours and the background with the dark, but for today I decided to switch it around.

On Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper and in my original MISTI (MOST INCREDIBLE STAMPING TOOL INVENTED, incase you haven’t heard ) I stamped the image using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. Keeping the stamp in place I turned the paper piece upside down and stamped again, stamping once with the card on top, and again with it removed. Then I began to watercolour using the Zig Real Brush markers 030 Blue and 035 Deep Blue for the top piece, going from dark to light.

On the bottom piece of Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper I painted using 041 Light Green, and 022 Carmine Red. Once I completed the watercolouring I put the two pieces aside to dry.

I like to complete my cards by stamping inside.  For the inside of the card I stamped the image slightly higher than on the front of the card and watercoloured again using the 030 Blue, and 035 Deep Blue below the image. I then stamped the sentiment slightly above the Holly.

Using a damp paint brush,  I pulled the red colour from the berries, adding water to bring it out. I then added splatters using the  Zig Real Brush marker colours  022 Carmine Red and 268 Deep Red.

Next, I glued the two pieces of watercolour together, then adhered them to my Neenah card base, attaching the piece on the inside as well.

I really enjoy experimenting with water colour and  like how this loose watercolour turned out, and I hope you like it as well. Thank you for joining me today.
