Simple Stamping – I’m a Puffer for You!

Hello friends!  It’s Chala here for today’s blog post.

Things have been crazy in my world and I got so wrapped up in life and trying to survive that I almost forgot my husband’s birthday!  (Bad wife, I know!)  But this made me realize that creating does not have to be super complicated!  Sometimes we are so enamoured with what others create and the techniques they use that we forget that there is nothing wrong with creating a simple card!  In fact, they are just as beautiful and for me….just finding time for crafting therapy through the chaos of my life is what is important.

So, I am here to share a super simple and quick card with you that received just as much praise from my sweet husband as some of the complicated cards I have created.

I will be using the Hero Arts “I’m a Puffer for You” stamp and die combo set.

I stamp some of the cute puffer fish images and party accessories with Memento Tuxedo Black  ink onto some white card stock.  I colour the images with my Copic markers and die cut them with the coordinating dies.

I then wanted to create a super simple ink blended background.  I wanted something that wouldn’t take the focus off the cute little images. To do this I used the Distress ink in Mermaid Lagoon and my ink blended brush and blended the ink onto the middle top portion of an A2 size card base.

I cut an A2 size panel of yellow cardstock and adhered it to a top folding card with my adhesive tape runner. Then I die cut the ink blended panel with the Elizabeth Craft Designs Stitched Rectangle Die that is slightly smaller that the A2 size panel and adhered that onto of the yellow cardstock.

To  add a bit of interest and to give the background an underwater feel I spray it with some water and lift the water droplets up with my microfibre cloth.

I then lay out the images and sentiments that I wanted to use on the inked panel.  I use Versafine Onyx Black ink to stamp the sentiments.  I adhere the party accesories with some liquid adhesive  and pop the puffer fish images up with scotch 3M foam tape.

I also add one of the left over puffer die cut images onto the inside of the card and give all the puffer images a coating of clear Wink of Stella (because every card needs a bit of sparkle) and stamp one of the solid fish images onto the upper right hand corner of yellow envelope.

I felt like the card needed a little something special so I added these sparkling clear droplets.  You can also achieve this look by using Glossy Accents or Nuvo Crystal Glaze.  I didn’t have time to wait for those to dry so the sparkling clear droplets were perfect for this rush card!

Here are some photos of the completed card.

Thank you so much for dropping by for today’s blog post.  You can check out the video of how this card came together at my YouTube channel here:

Crafty Friends

Happy Monday,
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend filled with some crafty fun.

For my first post of the new year I created two fun folded cards that showcased perfectly the Crafty friends turn about set from Concord and 9th

I started off by prepping the stamp and creating the jig for the turn about stamp- whole else as issue lining the stamp up on the package and fighting with the ruler as it sticks to the clear stamp, I don’t know about you but this drives me nut, so excited to hear they are creating tool kids for these turnabout stamps.

Once I had that all prepped, I went in and started stamping using my favourite colours of distress oxides, peacock feather, festive berry, cracked pistachio and wilted violet. I created a few panels while I was at it as I had two different card ideas in mind which you can see from the top picture.

For one of my cards I wanted to try something new (to me) A Z-fold card. I had never made one before, can you believe that!

All the instructions for the Z fold card and be found on my blog http://www.nancygracecreations.com/blog

The second card I created using all the same products with one addition the Sizzix flip-it die.  It allowed me to show cause the turn about stamp beautifully and make the little girl still centre stage.  For more of the process portion of these cards please head over to my blog.

Hope you were inspired and have a wonderful crafty filled week a head.

Fun with Peel Off Stickers, Microfine Glitter & Letraset ProMarkers

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a few cards with you today that I made using Elizabeth Craft Designs Christmas Cupcake Peel Off stickers #2527, Stampendous Microfine Crystal glitter and Letraset ProMarkers.

Colouring on glitter with ProMakers is a really fun way to make beautiful glittered accents for your cards and scrapbooks. This year I am hoping to have time to make some special cookies and squares to give out as gifts so I thought these Christmas cupcakes would be perfect for the cards to accompany them.

For those of you that are new to this technique I will quickly run through the basics. First, attach a piece of Elizabeth Craft Designs transparent double sided adhesive to a piece of cardstock (usually white). Remove the protective sheet from the adhesive and place the peel off sticker right onto your adhesive being careful not to distort the shape. Now sprinkle the Crystal Stampendous Frantage Micro Glitter all over, rub it in with your fingers and then tap off the excess. To make sure that the glitter is really stuck rub over it again and then use a fluffy brush to remove any extra bits. Now you are ready to start colouring with your ProMarkers.

I like to use the chisel tip and a dabbing motion to colour in bigger spaced and then I use the bullet tip to add shading. If you brush the pen across the glitter I think you will find that you rub some of it off so I found that dabbing gently worked better.

For this card I used these ProMarkers : R565 Poppy, R445 Crimson, G356 Forest Green, G724 Holly, O618 Putty, O427 Cinnamon & the BL400 Blender.

The Merry Christmas die #745 from Elizabeth Craft Designs cut out the perfect sentiment to put on the inside of this flip fold card.

On my next card I used an Action Wobble Spring to attach the cupcake to the card front just for fun.

Here are the colours used on this card : For this card I used these ProMarkers : R565 Poppy, R445 Crimson, G356 Forest Green, G724 Holly & the BL400 Blender.

On the next card I changed up the greens to give the card a little bit different look.

Here are the colours I used on this card : For this card I used these ProMarkers : R565 Poppy, R445 Crimson, Y635 Pear Green, G136 Marsh Green, O618 Putty, O427 Cinnamon & the BL400 Blender.

On all of the cards I used the new Elizabeth Craft Designs Glitter Dots 7018tg as accents and on the last card I used the R565 Poppy ProMarker to colour some of them red. These little dots are a quick, easy way to add a little more sparkle without having to get out the glitter and glue. I’m loving them!

Thanks for dropping by. I hope these cards give you ideas and inspiration.
