Ink-Blended Happy Birthday – and a Giveaway!

Happy Friday! Lindsey here with my first ever post for Scrap ‘N Stamp! So it’s a happy day for me, and I hope it is for you too, as I have a colourful birthday card to share… and a chance to win some fun paper crafting supplies! Here’s my card:

Rainbows and gold are hard to beat, even if it is after St. Patrick’s Day! I’d never attempted ink-blending a panel before hot foiling, so I decided to give it a try. For my rainbow, I used distress oxides in spun sugar, festive berries, wild honey, bundled sage, mermaid lagoon, and wilted violet.  My favourite part is flicking water onto the inks and blotting with a tissue to get all the fun splotches. Going all out, I also added some gold and black spatters, as well.
Once my panel was dry, I let my Gemini FoilPress heat up, and foiled my sentiment with gold, adding the little “to you” underneath. It still wasn’t sparkly enough, so I matted my rainbow panel on some Concord & 9th glitter cardstock. My last step (which now I realize might have been one step TOO far, LOL) was to add some black Nuvo drops on either side of the sentiment.

Have you tried heat foiling? I have a giveaway today of the Glimmer faux script happy birthday die I used for this card, as well as two rolls of Gemini foil, in gold and silver shimmer. For your chance to win, leave a comment here on the Scrap ‘N Stamp blog as well as on my blog, Bashful Blogging! You can enter until March 31st.
Thanks for checking in today, and I hope you enjoy a crafty start to your weekend!

Festive Open House Blog Candy Winners

Happy Monday everyone!

We had a lot of fun doing the Festive Open House yesterday and today I get the fun job of announcing the winners of our Blog Candy. But first I want to thank everyone that participated in our Blog Open House and left comments for us. When I printed off all the comments so that I could put everyone’s name in for the draws I realized that there were only 6 people that had participated so….drum roll…I have decided that EVERYONE will get a $10 Scrap ‘n Stamp Gift Certificate! Yeah!!! I really appreciate your participation and hope you enjoy spending your gift certificate.

And the winners are….

Betty N.

Samantha

Sue T.

Villy

Lauren B.

and Judy F.

Congratulations ladies! I will be sending you an email later today with a Gift Certificate code in it that you can use at our online store.

We had a great time at the Festive Open House at the store too and I thought I would share some pics so that those of you that weren’t able to join us can see what our little store looks like and how we decorated it. The first thing you saw when you walked in was the tree in the pic at the top. Kim, Judy and I made lots and lots of decorations to put on it and of course they were all made from paper. We ran out of time to make all the ornaments that we wanted to try so I will be sharing some of those with you later.

Our store isn’t very big but we manage to pack a lot of good stuff into the space that we have and for the open house we put out lots and lots of samples for inspiration.

We wanted everyone to have lots and lots of inspiration, just like we did on the Blog.

And we even made a Christmas tree out of garland on the wall to showcase the samples we made with Dreamweaver stencils.

Shellie came and did demos for everyone. Thanks Shellie! I know everyone enjoyed them a lot.

We also had a table set up so that everyone could do the Make ‘n Takes that we showed you in Post #3 & #7. It was a lot of fun and a great way to kick of the holiday season.

I have lots more fun projects and samples that I to share with you in the weeks leading up to Christmas so I hope you will drop by our Blog occasionally to see what’s new.

Have a great week and congratulations again to our Blog Candy winners!

Scrap ‘n Stamp Festive Open House – #10

Our Festive Open House is coming to an end but I have one more project to share with you. It’s a cute little ornament that we did a demo of in our retail store today.

When Kim first came in with this ornament I knew that I just had to share it with you. They are SOOO cute! It is made using the Chinese Knot Chain punch that Shellie used on her cards in post #2 & #5 so you will see yet another use for this versatile punch.

You will need to punch 2 strips of paper or lightweight cardstock 11 inches long.

Then score between each of the loops along the whole piece.

Now fold back and forth along each of the score lines to create accordian pieces like these.

Put a little bit of glue on the last set of loops and attach the other piece so that you end up with one long strip.

Thread a piece of silver cording through all the loops along one edge and tie it so that all the pieces are fairly tight together. You don’t want to make it too tight because you have to bring the open ends together and then glue them to create a circle.

When you are done your ornament will look like this. I added a small circle in the center so that I could attach an embellishment and it also helps to keep everything flat.

To finish everything off I glued on a punched snowflake and a rhinestone and put a loop of silver cording for hanging. Quick, easy and lots of fun to make!

And of course once we got going we couldn’t stop at just one! We had to try different colors and embellishments and pretty soon Kim and I had made a whole bunch of them and then Judy came up with some that had little stars on them and….well, you get the picture. We really couldn’t stop at just one. LOL! Here are just a few of others that we came up with…

Thank you so much for joining us today for our Festive Open House. I really hope that you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have.  And I can’t go without thanking Kim, Shellie and Judy for all their help getting everything ready for the blog and store. It was a fantastic team effort and I couldn’t have done it without them. Thank you ladies! You are the best!
