Tuesday with Tara {take 66}

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is about Coffee & friends, and a cute autumn owl 🙂  autumn-coffee-lovin-2

This card was a fun one, with lots of fun elements working together.  The base is a 5×7 kraft card.  The background papers are from a 10cent paperback novel and a paper shopping bag!  The latte cup stamp & friends die are by Tim Holtz, as are the swirl die cuts.  This cute little autumn owl is by Unity Stamps.  I stamped him twice and layered the leaves with foam tape, adding a bit of stickles to them.  There’s nothing really complicated here, just a bunch of elements working together, just like coffee & friends!

I hope you like my card this week… I can’t believe Thanksgiving is coming up next week already, it’s kinda snuck up on me, even more so as I live south of the border right now- but I’ll be back with a Tuesday blog next week, regardless of  whatever affects the turkey dinner has on me 🙂

Have a creative day!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 63}

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you’ve had a great week and enjoyed a bit of cooler weather wherever you are!  I was inspired by a full sheet of pretty watercolor paper I had sitting on my desk (another project with Colorburst that took a turn I wasn’t expecting… so was set aside for another day!) and it looked like autumn to me, in shades of red, orange & yellow!  I paired it with this large swirl die by Tim Holtz- love it!  The die was cut from my card front and the background paper cut slightly smaller than my card front & carefully adhered to the inside using Matte Multi Medium.

For a focal image, I decided to use a Prima doll, whose dress was paper pieced from the same watercolor background paper, with the addition of some leaves stamped on it in coral ink. The same leaves were stamped around the swirl cut outs on the card front.

A few details that finish off my card include simple sentiment stickers along the bottom of the card and a bit of bling and lace added to the dress. The finished card is pretty simple, but I gotta admit it didn’t come together terribly quick & easy. It wouldn’t take long to duplicate though 🙂

sending inky hugs your way…

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 62}

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you enjoyed your long weekend, especially if you got the time off work 🙂  Or maybe more so if you didn’t, like me… ha.  Anyways, we are officially transitioning from summer into autumn and I know that I am enjoying the cooler mornings and evenings!  I was thinking about cooler temps when I made these cards with my Colorburst backgrounds, but once the cards were “done” I felt they had more of a winter feel to them than autumn, so I changed them into Christmas cards!  So today I am sharing with you 2 card designs- before & after their Christmas transformation.

Christmas Coffee (4)

The mug portion of the stamp was paper pieced from my watercolor background paper and the rest is very simply layered. I added some wooden embellishments to my card and a touch of bling, as well as a sentiment and some very subtle snowflakes stamped in the background. You’ll notice a difference in color in the two photos as well, simply because my first one was taken in direct sunlight.  Just a few simple changes turned this card into a Christmas card!

Here’s my next ‘before’ photo:

Christmas Coffee (2)

The color palette just didn’t scream ‘pumpkin spice latte’ at me 🙂  Here’s the wintery after image:

Christmas Coffee (3)

I kept this one simpler, with just one wooden snowflake added, but I think it works!  Hopefully this gives some ideas for stamps in your stash and how you can use everyday stuff to make Christmas cards!  I am actually someone who struggles with making Christmas cards early/on time, but sometimes they just fall into place.

Have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
