Tuesday with Tara {take 413} Autumn Blessings

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s make is a tag bringing autumn blessings… but not just any autumn blessings, glowing ones 😉

After the spooky fun I had with the GLOW Grit Paste for our Ghostly Greetings Hop (missed it?  See it HERE) I wanted to try something different with my colorize pumpkins!  I paired them with a sentiment from one of my favorite autumn sets by MFT and had some pattern matching fun with this gorgeous lace frame stencil by Brutus Monroe.

I used pieces of ready-to-use Mixed Media Card stock by Vicki Boutin to cut parts of my pumpkins & the panel for the sentiment.  I chose to layer up just the short pumpkin and cut the tall one from a part of the paper that had a pretty foil design on it.  The stenciling was pieced together in stages so I wouldn’t smear the paste while it was still wet.  I played up the gold elements on the pumpkins by painting a bit of gold perfect pearls in the open spaces on the tag, as well as adding a bit around the edges of the sentiment.  I did this by simply dipping a wet brush into the perfect pearls powder, mixing on my Kraft sheet and painting!

Everything is simple, but elegant… but it gets fun when the lights go out:

Look at it GLOW!  This grit paste is so much fun and really unexpected when you first glance at it!  It definitely adds a new level of fun to your projects 🙂 I hope you love it!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 409} Autumn AALL & Create

Happy Tuesday!

Last Thursday for my Facebook Live I made a last minute change of plans and decided to make cards with the new AALL & Create die cut leaves, which come pre-colored in a package of 62 pieces!  They are colorful & whimsical and are also available in black & white, ready for you to add color… but I decided to try some for a little something different and they were so much fun!

Today I’m sharing a card & tag which I put together using the die cut leaves, a framework background stamp that is also by AALL & Create and metallic sticker sentiments by Tim Holtz.  I used the stickers because they are what I had… but I definitely want to purchase some more ephemera by this company, including sentiment strips in three colors (black, white & Kraft) and themes like “bite me” and “sharp tongues” they look like fun!

For this card, I lightly sanded some white core cardstock then stamped the background twice in black to give a repeat design.  I adhered some torn book print across the middle and selected three leaves to adhere.  Two were adhered flat to the card surface and the third, on the left side, was raised up with some foam adhesive.  I chose a sticker based on it’s length, so it would cover two of the stems and once I had everything adhered, I spritzed the entire card front with some mica spray to add a touch of gold/ bronze shimmer!

The tag was a really quick project- the hardest part for me was selecting my leaves!  I tried really hard not to be too ‘matchy’ with these and since I was using a pre-inked & die cut tag, I also tried not to overthink it!  I selected short, one or two word stickers and ended up loving how it came together.  I’m still debating if it’s going to end up on a card front- this would fit really nicely on a mini slimline 3×6″ card.

I made two more cards as well- one of them I’ve already shared on Instagram, so please stop by there and see it!   These leaves were really fun to play with and I look forward to more projects with them soon!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 402} Miss You

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a card made with some of the pieces you will have seen me prep in the last couple of Crafty Lives I’ve done on our Facebook page!  Two weeks ago I showed how I create these fabulous Crinkle Ribbons and last week I made some neutral toned inky backgrounds ready to be die cut as tags!

I finally succumbed to the temptation and got the mini brushstoke flower dies by Tim Holtz– they are sooo cute, but have intimidated me because they are so tiny!  I had some inked up (actually Dina Wakley Glossy sprayed up) backgrounds from a previous project and decided to cut a few of them out.  They turned out really cute and were such a fun addition to the smallest of the tags I die cut!

I paired the little tags with a bold sentiment that overlaps the tags, bringing them together as one focal point.  (This one by MFT is out of stock, but here’s another fab die set!).  The addition of one tiny flower behind the dot in the ‘I’ and a few pink jewels helps everything flow.  I stuck with neutrals for my background in contrast to the vibrant colors of the flowers and finished it off with a pretty yellow ribbon!

Hope you like it and that it gives you some inspiration to use up some of the fabulous inky scraps you have on your work space!  Pull out some die cuts and see what you can do to make a future project quick & easy!

Inky hugs,

Tara
