Tuesday with Tara {take 436} Spring Hares

Happy Tuesday!

I’m celebrating the beginning of spring and Easter is just around the corner… so I wanted to share a card with the adorable ‘Wild Hares‘ set by Lavinia Stamps.  It includes three different small hare silhouettes.  I had in mind to create a scene, but realized I may have to add more Lavinia stamps to my collection first!

I had the idea to do something on a soft, pastel background- which I created with a few colors of Distress Oxide Spray Stains!  I’ve used Cracked Pistachio, Speckled Egg & Saltwater Taffy together, with a bit of Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide stenciled over them.  I sized up the stamps against the Pointed Arch nesting dies by Hero Arts, finding the perfect size to create a banner across a slimline card.

I cut to ‘pendants’ from each different color blend on my background, then stamped a hare on one of each color in Nocturne Versafine Clair Ink for a bold black silhouette.  I embossed on a white background (in two steps since the panel was longer than my embossing folder) and then finished the card off with a variety of embellishments from the Spring Florals Mix Ups set.  It’s super pretty and includes these sweet little blossoms in addition to some pretty gems & sequin bits.

I find slimline cards to be a bit of a struggle to photograph, so I decided to grab some spring decorations for my little photo shoot for this card.  I hope it captures all the whimsy!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 410} Growing

Happy Tuesday!

I fell in love with this Bloom with Grace stamp set by Altenew a while ago but somehow it kept getting set to the side while I worked on something else… the bonus to that is that when I needed a quick card this week I had a few ideas in mind already!   I splurged & got the coordinating dies (something I rarely do!) and it definitely helped me put this card together easily!

I stamped & colored the larger image in the set with Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons, then cut it with the coordinating die.  I stamped a sentiment on a strip of green cardstock and then did some quick Distress Oxide Ink blending on a Kraft card stock base.  I kept the color heavier (freshly inked up) in the middle and faded it out toward the edges of the card.

I finished it off by splattering a bit of water over the ink, then added a few splatters of white spray (like this one).  A few vanilla sequins and a bit of thin twine finished it all off for me!

Hope you like how it all came together, I think I’ll make something similar with the smaller stamp and try out a few more ideas… watch for that on Instagram later this week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 399} Canadian Cats, eh!

Happy Tuesday!

We had some fun on Thursday night during my FB live getting creative with some Canadian themed cards for Canada Day!  I didn’t have anything handy I could use as a maple leaf, so I decided to have some fun with other shapes.  When I came across the Mischievous Cats dies by Tim Holtz I knew that would be a fun choice!  Here’s two varieties of my fun card:

For both cards I worked with a background of book print paper with a wash of white gesso over it, die cut with a stitched rectangle shape. I painted my red panels with Lumberjack Plaid Distress Paint.  For this first card, I die cut a cat from a deep red card stock, then painted lightly over it with the same paint to help it match a bit better.

I love the texture of the card stock, especially on the raised head.

For the second card, I went for a perfect match and cut the cat from white card stock which I painted red first.   It definitely gives a more intense color!  Both cards are finished off with Bold Sayings by Tim Holtz stamped in matching Distress Oxide ink and an ‘eh’ from an O Canada! stamp set in black.

These cards are simple, but a fun and creative interpretation of the Canadian flag!  Hope you like them!  Catch a replay of my live on Facebook HERE.

(I had a bit more inspiration during clean up at the end of my live… visit my blog or instagram to see what else I made!)

Inky hugs,

Tara
