Tuesday with Tara {take 351} painted birds

Happy Tuesday, friends!

I used some of the leftover painted birds from my art journal page for the inspiration hop (which there is still plenty of time to participate in!  See all the details & start here) as my starting point for this card, since I was going with paint as my inspiration word!  I found this pretty daisy paper in a 6×8″ paper pad by Vicki Boutin and selected the rest of my color palette from there.

I decided to add texture with a layer of corrugated Cardstock on my card base, but since the color wasn’t quite right I added more paint- covering up most of it with Speckled Egg Distress Paint.  I left a rough edge with dryer brushtrokes to add dimension and then splattered Cheddar & White gloss sprays across it.

The floral tiles are cut from Tim Holtz’s stacked hexagons, which I placed staggered across the panel.  As finishing touches, I added some more yellow with twine to hang a word charm and a die cut word by Honeybee.

The birds were cut from a card stock panel I painted with a mix of lemon & cheddar Dina Wakley paints.

Hope you like it!

Inky (painty) hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 350} Love you

Since today’s card is all about the challenge theme “words” I once again used a sentiment from the Bold Text #1 set by Tim Holtz. I then kept going and managed to fit even more words into this mini slimline card…

I absolutely look working with book print, so it was fun to cut the brushstroke flowers from book print as well as regular Cardstock, inking both with Distress Oxide Inks.  I mixed & matched both cuts to make this pretty blossoms really stand out!

As a final ‘words’ detail, I layered a black & white script print paper from Vicki Boutin’s Storyteller paper pad behind the cut out bold text.

This is one of those cards that is both simple and full of details at the same time… but I hope it makes you smile and you enjoy the eclectic mix I used to make it!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 344} Enjoy

Today’s card is inspired by the challenge theme “banners” and I wanted to use up some of the extras stamped & die cut pieces I had from the March Inspiration Hop (there’s still a couple of days to comment on my instagram post for your chance to win or you can go directly to my card here)!

I ended up going with what I call a scrappy style card, since I’ve used patterned paper & pre-made tags, and I also added a few pre-made & stitched banners for another fun element!

I had fun assembling the bits and pieces of this card, which includes bits from

– Birthday Banners by Hampton Arts &
Cupcakes Stamp & Dies by Hampton Arts
but wow… I did NOT have fun taking a photo of this thing and trying to get the colour right!  Please believe me when I say it looks better in person!  It’s very hard to get the different whites to match up, especially when they have slightly different finishes!
I hope you can imagine it and it inspires you to use up some of your scraps to make another card!  Don’t let all those creative bits you didn’t use the first time go to waste!
Inky hugs,
Tara
