Some FURRY Tracey Hey Fun

Happy Friday! Here we are, the weekend before Valentines Day, so I suppose I could have gone with something mushy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, but instead I chose FURRY! Not that we aren’t mushy with our furry friends. 😉  I also wanted to break out another Tracey Hey stamp set, and remind you there is still time to visit and comment on our Wild ‘n Whimsy Inspiration Hop for your chance to win one of these sweet stamp sets! And with that… here is my card:

Isn’t this little pup a cutie? While personally I always choose red rubber boots 😀  I decided to give this guy bright yellow ones. He comes from the Hot Dog set, along with two other sweet wiener dogs and accompanying sentiments. I added clouds and a sentiment from an older Lawn Fawn set. The sky and ground are distress inks, with the help of a die cut mask for the grass. The card base is made from sour apple My Favorite Things cardstock.

If you are wondering about the sentiment, it continues on the inside, along with a sticker from my previous teaching life:

If your weekend includes some crafting time, perhaps you’ll consider joining the SnS challenge – one person will win a $50 gift code to the Scrap ‘n Stamp store!

Tuesday with Tara {take 328} Winter Cardinals

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card will probably seem very non-traditional, but it really depicts the kind of winter I see most of the time since I’ve moved south!  I’m featuring the new Tim Holtz Festive Words dies paired with Cardinals dies by Impression Obsession over a background of Sketch Greenery stamped in assorted shades of green Distress Ink.  I used a mix of regular & oxide inks, misted with water on watercolor Cardstock to create a soft background.

My photo background is also the inspiration for the background of the card.  I went to a wreath making workshop with a friend and was able to use a large variety of different greenery to create a gorgeous fresh wreath for the holidays.  I love the mix of textures and colors together!

There’s a touch of shimmer mixed with all the earthy vibes, like a hint of fresh snow… with white pearlescent text and sequins scattered around.  Two of the cardinals are resting on the greeting while the third one, taking flight, is raised with a foam square.

I had a small piece of the background left after making my card, so I made a coordinating gift tag using the smaller ‘joy’ sentiment from the set.  I love the mix of the elegant background and the whimsical font of the greeting together!

Bonus, my hands were super inky after finishing this project 🙂

I noticed several of my last few makes have all been different shades of red & green… time to mix things up for next week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Joy Stocking

Kia here with you today for Day 6 of the Random Act of Cardness series here at Scrap’n Stamp. My prompt word is Sparkle, and there is a lot of Sparkle on this card, even though the photo does not pick it up easily.

Any stamp that has birds is a must have for me, well almost any! This stamp from Woodware caught my attention, and today is the perfect day to use it. To start I stamped using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne on Arches Cold Press watercolour card.

I wanted to watercolour and decided to use distress inks. The colours are Rustic Wilderness, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Barn Door, Candied Apple, Kitsch Flamingo, Speckled Egg and Brushed Corduroy.

I painted in layers to add deeper colour to areas of the stocking and added shading with the Twisted Citron. To bring in the red to the shading I pulled the colour from the stocking using water for a bit of unexpected. For the fur I used white Posca Pen, and dropped in hints of the Speckled Egg and Twisted Citron for interest.

Once I was finished with painting, I added pink dots using a gelly roll pen to the shaded area. For the stocking I added dots using my white gelly roll pen. I then added Nuvo Glitter Gloss to the white dots on the stocking, along with on the birds backs.

To finish my card I attached the piece to a Pinecone card base. I then die cut the Joy sentiment using red Glitter cardstock and glued it to the front of the card. I would normally stack my sentiment, but not with glitter card, and I am very low on red card, so I did not stack this time. Please forgive me!
