Happy Tuesday! We are in our final week of the May Random Acts of Cardness Challenge, and everyone who is participating over in the facebook group has been just amazing! Today’s theme is TEXT, and I thought it a perfect one to use for this cheery graduation card I made. I’m featuring some of Tim Holtz’s wildflowers dies inked in vibrant hues of Distress Oxide Ink over a book print background (literally a page from a thrift store paperback novel, trimmed to size).
The Wonderful World Stamp set by Taylored Expression is a great (sold out) one, with this ‘be kind’ sentiment and several others that are perfect for graduations. I chose white embossing powder for the sentiment to keep things subtle, perhaps a little too subtle!
I inked the edges of the book page with Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide, as that was the color of the largest flower in my bouquet. The ink helped the sentiment stand out a bit, and I added to that with some fine pink lines around the part. I finished off the card with a purple layer and some purple crinkle ribbon, which I had inked up previously.
Using cut or torn pages from books is one of my favorite ways to add to text elements to my cards! They don’t have to be expensive or ‘vintage’ books or papers to look great! I grabbed this one off a bargain shelf at a thrift store and just tear pages out as needed- just double check first for questionable words that might show up! (I have a larger book I use for bigger projects that is about a murder investigation… some pages just have to be skipped altogether. LOL) I can’t wait to see your TEXT projects over on facebook!
Inky hugs,
Tara
