Colorado Craft Company

About you

Hello crafters, Kia here with you today for Day 24 of the Random Act of Cardness challenges. My challenge is Paper piecing or as I have done, 3-D paper piecing.

For my card today I am using Colorado Craft Company Birthday Wishing. I used the adorable bunny holding a balloon, along with a little critter. The balloon has 3 pieces, the bunny has 5 and the little critter has 3. I build them up by stamping several of each image so I can cut out a foot, the arms, the ears, the hands etc.

After I stamped the pieces I coloured them with Copic markers, all the same. I then fussy cut out the pieces I wanted to use and styled them with my stylist set then set them aside. Using Hammermill card I sponged on Tumbled Glass and Twisted Citron Oxide inks. I did not want a 3rd colour added to my background so I blended out toward the meeting spot. Once the piece was dry I attached it to my card base.

I put the card in my stamp positioner and stamped the images on the card that I was using along with the sentiment. These do not get coloured. I then proceeded to add the tiny pieces building up to the top layer, doing the same for the critter and the balloon.

To finish off my card I added a scattering of sequins, adding a 3-D piece in the bunch.

This was a nice change for me, and I hope you will give this technique a try. Thank you for joining us today.

Tuesday with Tara {take 294} just a note

Happy Tuesday!  Today I’m sharing a quick, happy little card featuring an adorable image by artist Anita Jeram.  I have always loved children’s books, and was so excited to see that Colorado Craft Company has partnered with Anita, who illustrated Guess How Much I Love You.  Her characters are so adorable and I know that the set I’ve used today “Wishing You Happiness” will be the first of many that I purchase…

I kept my card simple, but colorful to keep the focus on this cute little mouse with his note pad… colored simply with a mix of watercolor pencils and Distress Ink.  I had a scrap of background paper that I tweaked a bit, adding a bit of blended Distress Ink then stamping the MFT Best Friend Background over it.  I love a good text stamp, and this one is great because it has lots of phrases about friendship.

At the last minute as I was about to glue down my layers, I decided some soft yellow polkadots would be a fun addition to this card.  I grabbed the Dotty Lottie stencil I had used on my last card and added some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink very lightly across the panel of watercolor card stock.  It is not neon as it appears in my first photo, it’s actually quite subtle if it’s not in direct sunlight!

I hope you have a great day, and check out the new list of words for our #snschallenge on Facebook!  Today’s word is NOTE!

Inky hugs,

Tara

In the Pink

Hello all, Kia here with you today to share this card. I was suppose to post last week, but missed my day. Me bad! I am making up for that post today.

I am using Colorado Craft Company Big and Bold Anemone Floral stamp, which I stamped and heat embossed in white using Arches Cold Press watercolour paper.

I used Daniel Smith Opera Pink to watercolour the flower, going around the pieces on the flower that are part of the background. For the white background and the pieces of the background on the flowers I painted using Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleedproof White watercolour.

To ensure good coverage I did 3 layers of each colour. I then allowed the piece to dry, before doing splatters using the white watercolour. A size 8 brush gave me the large splatters, and a size 4 gave me the smaller splatters.

I then matted the piece with Gina K black card and attached to a pink card base. I then die cut the sentiment from watercolour paper and glued it to a strip of the black card using foam tape to attach to the card front.

I really like how this technique gives the stamp a new look, a good way to stretch my stamping dollars.

I also took note that the Opera Pink watercolour is very similar to Zig Clean Color Brushes “Pink”. You don’t need to have professional watercolours to make a card like this. The Nuvo Aqua Brushes also have a Pink that is very close.

I hope you have enjoyed this card today. Following are Affiliate links to the store for the products that I have used for this card, at no extra cost for you.
