Random Acts of Cardness – Day 27

Hello my friend! Welcome to our Random Acts of Cardness – Day 27! It’s Deb here, for the Design Team. I hope that you’ve been able to join our challenge; there’s still a few days left. If you  haven’t been following along, here’s the scoop. For the month of April, Scrap ‘N Stamp has shared a list of prompts/themes for each day. You create a project based on a prompt, and share  you card on social media, using the hashtag #SNSCHALLENGE. Be sure to share it to the Scrap ‘N Stamp Facebook Challenge page – and use that hashtag! Play along with as few or as many days/prompts as you want. On May 1st, one lucky person will be randomly chosen as WINNER of a $50 Gift Certificate to Scrap  ‘N Stamp!  Below you’ll find a list of the prompts/themes for each day.

DAY 27 – FANCY FOLD

So here we are at Day 27, for which the theme is ‘fancy fold’.  If you’re not sure what that is – just Google search ‘fancy fold’, and you’ll see tons of ideas come up! My fancy fold for today is a Double Gate-fold Card. I’ll include all of the measurements, if you’d like to try it for yourself.  Since we’re not able to visit  our friends in person right now, maybe you’d like to send an extra special celebration card!

I added a ‘belly band’ to my card, to hold it closed. Here’s how it looks closed, in the photo below.

Random Acts of Cardness - Day 27

For the panels on the front, I chose the MFT Confetti Stencil Set and blended Picked Raspberry ink. Create the sentiment circle by first setting up a piece of white cardstock in your stamp platform. Lay the MFT Say it in a Starburst image stamp onto the cardstock, and then pick it up with the platform lid. Cover the stamp with the Picked Raspberry ink, and stamp firmly. Repeat the inking & stamping, for a nice crisp image. Next, remove the image stamp, and line up the celebrate sentiment in the middle. Cover the stamp with Versamark ink, and stamp firmly. Cover the stamping with gold embossing powder, and heat set. Now, if you’re like me & don’t have a big enough circle die, use  your scissors to cut out the circle. Set it aside for now.

CREATE THE INSIDE

The fun comes when the sentiment ‘belly band’ is removed, and the card is opened up!

Isn’t that fun! The inside panel is stamped with the MFT a la modes Cheers stamp, in Memento ink. Stamp the sentiment from the MFT Good Time to Wine stamp set across the top. Use your alcohol markers to colour the image. I chose a Spectrum Noir Tri Blend Bright Pink for the dress & shoes, and a brown for the hair. The champagne is coloured with a light cream. For extra sparkle, use the Nuvo Glimmer Pen in Midas Touch to add details to the dress, as well as extra bubbles coming out of the champagne glass.

CARD MEASUREMENTS

There’s a lot of pieces to this style of card, but once the cutting is done, it comes together quickly.  Here are the component measurements:

Card base – 12″ x 5 1/2″ – score at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″.  Fold inwards on the 4″ and 8″ score lines, and outwards on the 2″ and 10″ score lines.

Pink panels – 4 pieces, of 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″. Layer these on each of the inner & outer fold panels. Large pink panel – 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″. Attach this to the inside middle panel.

White cardstock – outside panels – 2 pieces at 1 1/2″ x 5″.  Inside panel 3 1/2″ x 5″.

Belly Band strip – pink cardstock – 1″ x 9″
