Sweet Friend

Hello crafty friends, Kia here with you today to share this card called “Sweet Friend”, which is featuring Altenew’s Precious Peony stamps set. This is such a beautiful set, which always makes it fun to colour. I used two of the stamps from the set for this design, and only 5 Copic markers for colour. Using such a small number of Copic’s was a first for me, but I love the results.

I picked two of the stamp images from the set to colour. The Copic colours for the flowers are R35 and R27, and for the leaves YG05, YG06 and YG07.

Once I finished with the colouring I cut the images out, and set them aside. Moving on to the background I opted to use an embossing folder, which is also from Altenew called Garden Harmony and Hammermill cardstock. I spritzed both side of the card before running through my machine.

To put it all together I picked a Gina K Design cardstock called Red Hot for my card base. Using glue I attached the embossed piece to my card front. I then attached the right side image using glue. To the left image I added foam squares before attaching it resting over the opposite flower. I then finished my card with a sentiment from Pinkfresh Design called Heart Smiles.

For the inside of my card I again embossed another piece of Hammermill card, gluing it in place. I then stamped a sentiment also from the Pinkfresh Heart Smiles stamp set, and went around the edges of the piece using a Copic marker, which I also did for the sentiment on the front of the card.

Thank you for visiting today. I hope you have enjoyed this card as much as I enjoyed making it. I wll be back next week with another card made from this set. See you then.

Day 2 of 12 Days of Christmas – Penny Black

We are celebrating the 12 days of Christmas at Scrap’n Stamp and this is for Day 2 featuring Penny Black stamps.  Let’s get started, today I am using a Penny Black stamp called Holly Berry, along with Zig Clean Color Pens. Normally I would colour the front panel with the bright colours and the background with the dark, but for today I decided to switch it around.

On Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper and in my original MISTI (MOST INCREDIBLE STAMPING TOOL INVENTED, incase you haven’t heard ) I stamped the image using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne. Keeping the stamp in place I turned the paper piece upside down and stamped again, stamping once with the card on top, and again with it removed. Then I began to watercolour using the Zig Real Brush markers 030 Blue and 035 Deep Blue for the top piece, going from dark to light.

On the bottom piece of Fabriano Hot Press watercolour paper I painted using 041 Light Green, and 022 Carmine Red. Once I completed the watercolouring I put the two pieces aside to dry.

I like to complete my cards by stamping inside.  For the inside of the card I stamped the image slightly higher than on the front of the card and watercoloured again using the 030 Blue, and 035 Deep Blue below the image. I then stamped the sentiment slightly above the Holly.

Using a damp paint brush,  I pulled the red colour from the berries, adding water to bring it out. I then added splatters using the  Zig Real Brush marker colours  022 Carmine Red and 268 Deep Red.

Next, I glued the two pieces of watercolour together, then adhered them to my Neenah card base, attaching the piece on the inside as well.

I really enjoy experimenting with water colour and  like how this loose watercolour turned out, and I hope you like it as well. Thank you for joining me today.

Red Mittens

I have named this card Red Mittens. Kia here with you today to share Red Mittens, which is an older stamp by Penny Black. I am using another older stamp, also by Penny Black called Berry Bramble.

I decided for this card that I would use Tombow markers for my colour, using only 4 markers, which I have linked to below. Several years back I cut this set to separate the mittens, as I wanted to use them differently. When perusing Facebook today I saw a card by Michelin Jourdain, and loved how she hung the mittens, hence I did my version.

When I finished colouring the berries and the mittens I painted on Tumbled Glass oxide ink using a damp paint brush. I then fussy cut the left mitten, styled it and arranged on the card. In my Misti I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Blue Belle, with the joy done using VersaFine Clair Ink in Tulip.

I attached the piece to a Gina K Design Red Velvet card base, and added a bunch of splatters using Winsor Newton Gouache.

It was fun giving some love to my older stamps. I like to bring them out every now and then, and show them off. I do hope you have enjoyed this trip down memory lane.
