Poppin’ By To Say…with Lawn Fawn

Saturday, April 11th, 2020

Good morning and happy Saturday! Laurie with you to share a fun card featuring the spotlight technique. The spotlight technique is when you choose an image or area of your project to really stand out. Whether it be by popping something up for dimension or adding a bold, punch of colour.  I actually combined the two!

I started by stamping the sweet toaster from the Let’s Toast Stamp Set from Lawn Fawn. I used a Copic safe ink and used C1, C2 and the colourless blender to add some shading. On a seperate piece of white cardstock, I stamped the toaster and two strudel. I coloured in the pastries with Copics and decided to paper piece the toaster to add the fun striped pattern. Note: I knew I wanted the colourful toaster in the centre of the panel so I kept that in mind when stamping the background!

I die cut the toaster as well as the pastries with the co-ordinating Let’s Toast Dies. I adhered the toaster with foam adhesive to give dimension.  Of course, this card absolutely needed google eyes!!  I heat embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder on black cardstock and trimmed to a small strip. I also popped this up!

I added the stamped panel to a white card base and after looking at it for a few minutes decided to add the stitched frame. I also added some shimmer to the pop tarts and a few areas of the toaster. Over top of this, I added a ton of Nuvo Crystal Glaze.

And that’s the finished card! Over on the Scrap N’ Stamp Facebook Page, we have two challenges going on. The first one, is our Paper Hugs Blog Hop…there’s still time to comment on our blogs for a chance to win a $50 gift certificate! The second is the Random Acts of Cardness Challenge. Everyday this month, we’re giving you a jumping off point to create using certain techniques, colours, shapes etc. And my post today is part of that…Spotlight! Please visit the FB page for details.

Thanks so much for stopping in today! Stay home and Stay Safe!  And Happy Easter!!

No Line Pencil Colouring with Hero Arts & Pinkfresh Studio

Sunday, March 29th, 2020

Hello and welcome back! I hope everyone is playing it safe and staying at home!! I have been and actually enjoying every minute of it!! I’m a homebody at heart so staying in doesn’t bother me one bit. But if you’re the more social type, I give you strength :)!

Today, I’m sharing a card featuring the Hero Arts and Pinkfresh Studio collaboration set, You Make A Difference. This is a large stamp set with a beautiful, sketchy background along with tons of awesome sentiments. I decided to do a bit of no-line colouring with my pencil crayons.

Because I wasn’t adding any water or blending solution to this card, it was safe to use any type of ink. As long as it was quite light in colour! Memento Desert Sand Ink is perfect for this technique! I used a two shade combination for each image. Starting with the light and adding some darker bits. This image is very sketchy and easy to colour!

After it was all coloured, I took a very light blue pencil and went around the edges to create a bit of contrast. It’s very subtle and hard to see but it’s there!  I was so tempted to fussy cut the centre of the image out but didn’t want to wreck anything at this point. So, I stamped one of the sentiments from the set using a medium shade of grey ink. The hearts came from a set I had in my stash.

I put some finishing details like white gel pen and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to bits of the image. The panel was adhered directly to a white card base.

And that’s my finished card for today! I hope you enjoyed!

Thank you for dropping in. Stay home and stay healthy!

Combining Old & New Stamps and Dies

Saturday, March 14th, 2020

Hello and happy Saturday! Laurie with you today to share a card that combines some older and new products from MFT!  It combines both stamping and die cutting. Let’s have a look!

I used the bee, the clouds and the sentiment from the older Love Bugs Stamp set and co-ordinating dies. This is an adorable set and I thought it paired perfectly with the Freshly Picked Die Set which was released last month!

Everything was coloured using Copic Markers except the watering can. I used Slate Ink from the 2018 Assortment Ink Cubes from Gina K Designs. I blended the ink using a sponge dauber and then a blending brush.

I used the Grassy Hillside Borders Die from Lawn Fawn to create the grassy hill and used Jellybean Ink to add the colour. I cut down the panel using a Wonky Stitched Rectangle die (older MFT). I added all the images onto the panel using a bit of liquid glue and foam adhesive. I used a “bead board” embossing folder on the cardbase. The focal panel was lost on the white base so I decided to mat it with a grey piece of cardstock. I also heat embossed the sentiment on the same cardstock.

I used foam adhesive to adhere the panel to the cardbase. I did add a few white gel pen details and some shimmer to the bees wings. The most time consuming part of this card was colouring and adhering all those die cuts but time well spent!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a fabulous weekend!
