Emboss Resist with Distress Oxide Inks!

Hello and welcome back! Laurie with you today to share one of my favourite techniques…emboss resist! This technique is so easy and fun to do. I’ve used a background stamp from My Favorite Things which I later turned into a custom cover plate die…stay tuned 🙂

I started by stamping the Crosshatch Background onto a piece of mixed media paper using Versamark Ink and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder from Lawn Fawn.

You can see the pattern faintly. Next, I smooshed Picked Raspberry, Chipped Sapphire, Seedless Preserves, Victorian Velvet Distress Oxide Inks onto my craft mat. I later added Black Soot. I misted with water and smooshed the heat embossed panel into the ink.

I added a few layers of ink to build up the colour. You can clearly see the pattern emerge.

This is when I decided to turn this panel into something more exciting. It also resulted in 2 cards!  I took a small circle die and cut each embossed image from the panel. This didn’t take much time.

So now I have individual circles as well as panel with open circles. Now, to turn these into cards!

For the individual circles, I used the negative panel and temporarily adhered it to a top fold, white card base. This acted as a guide to place the circles perfectly.

I added foam adhesive inside each circle and placed the die cut circles.

After all the circles were adhered, I removed the negative portion.

I finished this card off with a sentiment from the Fabulous Phrases Die set from Concord & 9th. The die actually cuts “hey friend” but with a couple snips with scissors, it’s now just “hey”! The 3 little hearts are also included in this set.

I added a generous helping of glitter pen and Nuvo Crystal Glaze to the sentiment and hearts to finish this card off! Now, let’s take a peek at the bonus card!

Like I mentioned, I adhered the panel directly onto a white, side fold card base using Gina K Connect Glue.

I die cut more of the black little hearts and adhered them in the centres of each circle. The sentiment comes from an older MFT set and was stamped onto a circle die cut with the same circle die I used earlier.

Both cards are clean and simple and came together quite quickly. It was so fun to pull out the Distress Oxide Inks and to create something cool with a background stamp!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you again!
