Word Prompt Challenge for Fun

Hi creative friend! It’s Deb here, for the Design Team. Today I’m here for the word prompt challenge for “FUN”. Yes, it’s fun, but the word is actually ‘fun’!

BIRTHDAY WISHING

Now, everyone has different ideas of what is fun. It can be an activity, or reading your favourite book, maybe going to a movie. Or, just sitting with friends. I decided to turn fun into a verb, instead of an adjective – with this fun, interactive card!

Okay, so the front of the card doesn’t give too much away. The glitter cardstock and embellishments hint at something, though. To create the card front, simply die cut the MFT Birthday Wishes Die-Namics from green cardstock. Glue it onto a piece of Memory Box Glitter cardstock (the pack I have is retired, but there’s new packs in store!). Add some Memory Box Fairy Gemstones (Winter Fantasy), and then attach this panel to your card front.

CARD DETAILS

As I explained, I’ve hurt my back, so I had to figure out a card that would be fairly quick to make. The Photo Play Pop Up Card Kit is a life (or back) saver! This pack includes everything you need to create 6 pop up cards. All you need to add is your creativity, some paper and stamps.

Before following the simple directions to attach the pop up piece, add your coloured cardstock to the inside of the card base. On the left side, I stamped 2 sentiments from the Colorado Craft Company Birthday Wishing stamp set in a dark green ink. Next, stamp the balloon holding bunny from the same set in Nocturne ink, onto a piece of white cardstock. Use your favourite markers to colour him and the balloon – I used my Copic markers.

Now you can attach the pop up mechanism to the inside of the card. Next, attach a slightly larger piece of the same glitter paper, behind the bunny, and then attach both to the top of the pop up piece.  Stamp another sentiment onto white cardstock, trim, and attach it to the bottom right, below the bunny. The photo below shows how the pop up mechanism looks like, from above.

Orange You Glad It’s Thursday?

I couldn’t resist the corny joke! My word prompt for the Scrap ‘N Stamp daily challenge is ‘orange’, so I just couldn’t resist the ‘orange you glad it’s Thursday’ joke.  Actually, I’m running behind – I was supposed to have shared this card on Tuesday the 11th. So if you’re confused, it’s okay; it’s not you, it’s me!

ORANGE MOON

I recently received the new Tim Holtz Layering Moon Mask set, and just had to use it!  We’ve had so many spectacular moons this year – blood moon, harvest moon, blue moon, super moon, that I thought I’d go with my version of the blood moon – but in orange!

Orange You Glad it's Thursday?

Plus, since Hallowe’en is coming up in a few weeks, I thought I’d make it a bit spooky, too.

CARD DETAILS

If you haven’t seen this new Moon Mask set yet, you really have to check it out! You get 3 masks and 3 stencils, in 3 different sizes.  I chose the middle size moon. First, place the mask onto your white cardstock, and then blend Fossilized Amber around the edges. Leaving the mask in place, next blend Dusty Concord, then Chipped Sapphire, and finally Black Soot distress oxide inks. Now, remove the mask, and blend Spiced Marmalade distress ink to fill in the moon. Next place the moon stencil, and use the Black Soot distress oxide to stencil in the craters of the moon.

After completing the moon, remove the stencil, and then stamp the Lavinia Stamps Seasonal Tree in Nocturne ink.  Then blend a bit more Black Soot around the bottom, so that the tree doesn’t look like it’s floating. I didn’t have a suitable spooky sentiment, so I didn’t add one. But if you do, to the left of the tree at the bottom is the perfect spot!

Now, layer your image panel onto a piece of dark yellow cardstock with foam tape, and then glue it onto an orange card base.

Welcome to Autumn!

Today’s word prompt for the Scrap ‘N Stamp daily challenge is ‘trees’. It’s Deb here, from the Design Team! I chose that word, as I thought it would be the perfect way to say ‘welcome’ to autumn! As far as colours go, it has to be my favourite time of year. Plus, it’s a good excuse to cozy up with sweaters or blankets, especially with a good book.

COLOURS OF AUTUMN

I’ve been waiting to use this new Penny Black stamp, called Enlightened. It’s more about the leaves that the actual tree, but I figured that was close enough! Plus, it gave me a chance to  pull out my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush Markers, for some watercolour.

Welcome to Autumn!

Don’t you just want to grab your favourite hot beverage, and snuggle on the couch? But wait – finish reading my post, first!

CARD DETAILS

Start with a piece of watercolour paper, set up in your stamp platform. Next, randomly add ink from your Carmine Red, Yellow, and Orange Zig markers, onto the leaves. Lightly spritz with water, and then press firmly onto the paper. Repeat this as many times as you like, until you’re happy with the colours. Next, use the Blue Gray marker for the lines, and the Light Green marker for the stems, and repeat the process.  If you don’t have markers, you could do this process with your Distress Ink pads, as well.

For the sentiment, I chose the Memory Box Harvest Love set. Stamp the sentiment onto vellum paper in Versamark ink. Next, cover the stamping with copper embossing powder, and heat set.  Repeat this with the smallest leaf stamp from this set. Colour the leaf using the same colours you used for the background.  This Harvest Love bundle comes with coordinating dies – use that with your Big Shot to die cut the leaf.  Die cut the sentiment with a stitched oval die, and then glue it onto the watercolour panel.

Layer the front panel onto a piece of copper glimmer paper using foam tape, and then attach these to an orange card base.  Attach the leaf using a foam square, and then glue on some sequins, to finish off your card.

Welcome to Autumn!

The copper embossing powder is so rich and warm!
