MFT – Trendy Triangles

Hi Friends!   Chala here with today’s Random Act of Cardness word “shapes”.  It’s funny as cardmakers we can forget about using simple shapes in our creations.  Well, I am here to challenge you to pull out all your geometric shapes and get creative!

I chose to use triangles today with MFT’s Trendy Triangle stamp set, but of course you can use circles, squares, stars, etc.  Some great geometric stamps sets I also recommend are Concord & 9th’s Geometrics.

I stamped out the triangles onto some white cardstock in the following Distress Oxide Inks:  Mermaid Lagoon, Pine Needles, Squeezed Lemonade, and Barn Door, Seedless Preserves and Carved Pumpkin.   I then then fussy cut out the triangles.

There are so many combinations you can put together with these triangle designs and so many different ideas you can do!  I didn’t get to it this time, but I thought it would be fun to stamp out the Triangles with Versamark, heat set them with clear embossing power and the distress ink over top with a couple of colours. I think that would look really neat.

For today’s card I just simply laid the triangles out in a patter that was appealing to my eye and then adhered them down with some Art Glitter Glue.

This card is for my son’s birthday, so to personalize it I die cut out the number one  twice from a number die set that was given to me. You can use a set like Tim Holtz’s Countdown Thinlits Dies. Number dies are another staple I use a lot in making personalized cards.

One I had the numbers adhered down, I added a bit of Clear Wink of Stella to add a bit of shimmer and interest.

The “Happy Birthday to You” sentiment came from the recently purchased  BirchPress Happy Lingo Stamp & Die Set.  I cannot wait to make more cards with this particular stamp and die set.  There are so many possibilities and so little time!  Especially since I am trying to knock this card out before I head out on my first post-pandemic vacation to……VEGAS!  In fact, when this post goes up I will be boarding the plane with a shirt that I made that says, “Vaxxed, Waxed and ready for Vegas!” .  Lol!  All kidding aside, it will be a very different feeling this time travelling, but a much needed holiday for the husband and I  (Thanks Mom for watching the kids.  You’re the BEST!).  I hope that you guys have been able to have some holiday time this summer too!

Here is the look at the finished card.  Simple shapes, simple colours, but a lot of fun!

Thanks for spending your time with me today and I hope you have an amazing day!
