Lawn Fawn Keep Swimming Reveal Wheel Card

Hello Again! It’s Chala and I am here to share a cool technique to add extra dimension to your scene cards! We will be using some great products from Lawn Fawn including the Reveal Wheel die cut set, the Keep Swimming Reveal Wheel add-on and the Keep Swimming Stamp set. I will also be sneaking in some images from the Friends at First Sip stamp set from My Favourite Things. There are many stamps sets from Lawn Fawn that would work for this technique like the Loads of Fun or Fantastic Friends stamp sets just to name a few!

This post will be a bit different as I will only be sharing in writing the list of supplies I used and then directing you to the video to see how the card was made. I will list the materials with links below. I often find it difficult to explain in writing the process of making cards and today this has become even more difficult today with a migraine. 😔

So, without further ado….here is the link to the video and remember the list of materials will be listed below.

I hope you enjoyed the video and that you are inspired to create your own 3D card and share it on the Scrap’N Stamp Facebook Challenge Page.

Here are some close -up pictures of the finished card and the materials used are listed below. Have a great day!

Simple Waterfall Cards

Hey Guys! Glad to be back on the Scrap’N Stamp blog! I wanted to re-share an old card technique that is sure to Wow your recipients.

The waterfall card is one of the first interactive cards I attempted to make way back in the day. The nice thing about this type of card is that you don’t actually need a special die set to create it. It also is a great way to take a look at the stamps you have on hand and use them in a different way. Today I will share two cards with you. One using a newer stamp set by MFT – Picture Perfect which is such an adorable and fun set, as well as an older Lawn Fawn set called Thanks a Latte. I will also be using my Silhouette die cut machine to cut out the pieces for the waterfall card, however, you do not need this machine at all! In fact, there are many free templates available on the internet or you can use the template that I created. My template includes 4 squares in which you can stamp your image or text, a decorative panel that is slightly smaller than an A2 size card and the waterfall mechanism. I encourage you to watch the YouTube video linked below on how to use the template.

A2 Waterfall Card Template

Let’s get started! The template I will be using works with a standard A2 size card. However, you can increase or reduce the size to fit the size of card or stamps that you are using. Once you have your pieces cut out you will want to stamp your images (or sentiments) onto the 4 squares. You can use any medium to colour in your images. I used Copics for mine. Another thing you can do is create additional square cards out of coloured cardstock that are slightly larger in size to give them a backer or frame and to hide any Copic bleed through.

The next step is to prepare your pull / waterfall mechanism. You will want to score and fold the top of the “T” over and glue it down. You can use a liquid adhesive or a strong adhesive like Be Creative  Scor Tape (3mm).

Then you will score the other four marks on the base of the “T” shape and fold the paper to the back. This is a bit tricky to explain…so, I again I encourage you to watch the YouTube video linked below. Once those folds are made, you can adhere your squares down starting with the image that you want on the bottom and lining them up to your score marks. This will make the waterfall effect when you pull on the tab.

I like to punch or pierce holes in the ends of the “T” portion of the waterfall fall mechanism and create corresponding holes in the decorative panel that I can attach the two pieces together with brads. You don’t have to do this, however, if you are not adhering with brads you need to ensure you are only applying adhesive to the end of the tabs…otherwise you cannot feed the waterfall portion through the back….(again, this is confusing to explain but much easier to follow along with the video)! If you are using brads you will want to connect the panel and waterfall mechanism pieces together before you glue the panel down onto your card.

Once you have the panel adhered down you can embellish the pull tab with sting or simply by creating a tab and stamping or writing “pull here”. Again, you can glue the tab or adhere it with a brad. (Note the template above does not have a separate tab piece…but you can always create one!)

Now you can pull down your tab and watch the “waterfall” of images.

To complete your card you can stamp a sentiment or greeting on the inside.

This first one is for yet another birthday that my son Leighton was attending! I kept the front of the card super simple…although you could totally add embellishments and additional stamping!

I thought it would be fun to attach the gift card to the pull tab as an additional surprise! It also helps give the slider mechanism enough clearance for the brad to slide underneath the images without getting caught.

This corresponding sentiments from the MFT – Picture Perfect stamp set was perfect for the recipient and the giver! In fact, the two monkeys remind me of my son and his friend! (My son is really tiny so the little monkey is a spitting image of him! LOL) I also added “Happy Birthday” from the Lawn Fawn Ahoy Matey stamp set. (Another set that has images that would be super cute on a waterfall card!)

The second card was going to my son Arden’s teacher for an end of the year “Thank you”. I used some coffee themed patterned paper for the panel.

Again, there is room to add a gift card to the pull tab if you like! On this one I did not add backing cardstock so you can see the Copic colouring that bled through…but, I am okay with that.

I used a sentiment from Picket Fence’s stamp set Good Teacher that I thought worked nicely with the coffee theme. The sentiment just cracks me up…again, it suits the recipient perfectly!

I hope you enjoyed today’s cards and again, I encourage you to watch the corresponding YouTube video to get a more concise view of how these cards are assembled.

Chameleon Picture Changer

Hello again! Hard to believe we are almost done June! For me, this means my kids are attending a load of birthday parties before the end of the school year and that I am sharing yet another birthday card! My daughter recently attended a very cool birthday party for her friend that had a reptile themed party. What a brave girl! So, of course I had to pull out one of my favourite stamps sets (one that I used in my very first YouTube video), Lawn Fawn – One in a Chameleon and paired it with the Lawn Fawn Picture Changer die set. I will also be using some of the images from the Critters in the Jungle stamp set as well. This picture changer die set is so cool and there are so many possibilities to use it with stamps you already have!

I start out by using the picture changer die and with a pencil I trace out the inner square onto some 110lb white cardstock so that I know where to stamp the images. I need to trace the squares from both dies so that I can ensure I stamp the images in the correct place. Because I want the chameleon to “appear” I will be stamping most of the images twice, trying to get them in the exact same spot inside each square. I will be using Memento Tuxedo Black ink so that I can do some copic colouring. Now, I will warn you that this is a bit of a process to stamp out and there is some masking involved (I like to use the Avery full sheet labels to create my masks), but it is so worth it!! In fact, I did have a few mistakes along the way…but, hoping you won’t notice them in the finished product! Although, if you want to know what they are you can click on the video below and I will let you in on the secret there!

Once everything is stamped out I will colour the images in and then die cut the picture changer pieces out. There are two pieces, the front pocket piece and then the slide that will be sandwiched in between the pocket.

Assembly can be a bit tricky at first. You simply insert the slider piece into the pocket piece (you can watch how this happens in the video below). Then you will push the tabs from the slider portion into the slots of the pocket (Again, much easier if you watch the video!). You will want to make sure you have an anti-static tool or bag and coat both these pieces liberally to help the mechanism slide. I use Be Creative  Scor Tape (3mm) to adhere the sides down.

I don’t have the Magic Picture changer Add-on so I improvised by cutting the front portion of the envelope piece from some shimmer green card stock, trimmed out the tabs and adhered that with the same Be Creative  Scor Tape (3mm). I then use the smaller frame and the pull tab piece that came with the original die set and cut that from some solid green cardstock. I also coloured the pull tab with a copic maker and touched up any areas that showed white on the sliding mechanism.

I adhered the frame with the Be Creative  Scor Tape (3mm) again, making sure that I only applied it to the corners. For the pull tab I used a regal adhesive tape runner.

I had some left over textured brown card stock from my last project that I applied to the front of my A2 card and then adhered the magic picture changer onto it with some 3M foam tape. Now it is time to add some foliage and critters!

I stamped out the parrot, snake and some of the leaves and bushes from the Critters in the Jungle stamp set from Lawn Fawn. I again used the Black ink from Memento as I did copic colouring. I love these little critters and think they add the jungle feel to the card nicely. I will fussy cut out the images and arrange them around the frame of the picture changer with some liquid adhesive, being careful that they don’t interfere with the sliding mechanism.

The last thing to do is add a little sparkle to the snake with my clear Wink of Stella and stamp the sentiment “You’re one in a chameleon” on the inside with my new favourite ink for sentiments – Versafine Claire – Nocturne.

I really liked how this card came out and that it can be for a boy or a girl and that it can be used for a variety of occassions.

I hope you enjoyed today’s interactive Picture Changer Card and that it has sparked a creative idea for you to make your own! You can check out the YouTube video here
