Tuesday with Tara {take 134}

Happy Tuesday!

I woke up this morning to find snow on the ground again… so I’m sharing with you a winter card which includes a hint of spring (or summer) that many of us are dreaming of!

Yep, Snowflakes & Butterflies!  I love this saying and when I pulled this stamp from one of my storage folders (I love the Stuftainers by Stampendous for my cling stamps) a card concept started forming for me… I wanted a wintery colored card with this design, a snowflake background and these awesome layered “Beautiful Butterflies” stamp & die sets by My Favorite Things.  Unfortunately, I have no idea who makes the sentiment (it’s a problem with cling stamps!  I usually try to organize them by brand, but this was in a misc. Christmas/winter folder).  If it looks familiar to you, please let me know and I’ll update!

My card is very simple- a gorgeous embossed background on pearl white card stock with the sentiment stamped in grey archival ink on a dusty green card stock.  The butterflies were stamped primarily with Cracked Pistachio Distress Ink & Distress Oxide- it was fun to see how the two variations of the same color played together.  The larger butterfly has a layer of Broken China Distress Oxide to add a bit of pop.  The final detail layer was stamped in the same grey as my sentiment, then a bit of glitter finishes them off.  I added Nuvo Glitter Drops (in Blizzard, of course!) to the butterfly bodies and a few spots on the snowy background as well.  A touch of Rock Candy Distress Stickles adds that extra touch of shine.

It’s nice to know I can use my butterflies year round… even though I’m done with winter, I don’t mind looking at them on this wintery card 🙂

Thanks for visiting (and reading to the end)!  I’m excited to announce that we’ll be back on Saturday with a fun BLOG HOP for you!  Hope you’ll plan to join us starting right here on Saturday!

Have a creative day!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 106}

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a simple card with a mixed media twist… a fun textured background!  I started with a simple little tag that had been inked up with Distress Ink on a previous play day… added one of the amazing new butterflies by MFT, stamped with Distress Ink and die cut from watercolor paper.  I added a simple sentiment by Mama Elephant (couldn’t find this one from the ‘everyday greetings’ set in the online store, but there’s a bunch of other good ones!) and some ribbon from my stash to finish it off.

I wanted a simple background, but I didn’t want a boring background, so I decided to collage a black and white piece and add some mixed media.  I trimmed a base of white cardstock and layered over it with torn book paper, tissue wrap (I used pre-printed, but I love that you can stamp plain with your own images for more variety!) & washi tape.  I then selected a stencil and spread plain white texture paste through it in a random pattern.  I love how it dries with a bit of transparency to see the design underneath it.  To tie everything together, I splattered a bit of metallic paint on my black & white background.

Another look at all the yumminess…
I hope today’s card brings a smile!  It features my ‘happy’ colors, which I am always drawn to!  If you are in one of the many areas of BC that are affected by forest fires and evacuations right now, you are on my mind!  Many of my family and friends are in the middle of this crisis and my heart is hurting for you… praying you are all safe with your loved ones!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Happy Tuesday!

Today I have a simple, classy card to share with you that features a new stamp set by Concord & 9th, which is new in the online store!

Maybe you’ve noticed, but I really love sentiment stamps, and this set was so versatile and just so CLASSY, I couldn’t resist it!  (Apparently I’m not the only one who thought so, because it is currently sold out… but I’m sure Raya will be getting it back in stock again before long!)  I’ve paired it with a Tim Holtz floral die cut out of my card front and layered an inked piece of book paper behind it (I used Distress Oxide with lots of water over a gesso base) and added a strip of yellow paper and a small stamped & die cut butterfly to finish it off. (Did  you see that Tim Holtz released 12 more colors of Distress Oxide?  You can pre-order the bundle here & save!  So much inky fun!)

I kept the inside very simple, but wanted to share with you the inside sentiment that’s also included in the stamp set:

This will be my new go-to set for thank you cards!

I’ve got another card to share with you using this stamp set, so I encourage you to come back and see us on SATURDAY for a fun CANADA DAY BLOG HOP featuring a fab new beaver stamp & die set that’s in the store!  We’ve got some great artists and creative fun to share with you, so be sure to carve out some time on your Saturday morning to hop with us!  It’s our first blog hop, and we’re pretty excited about it!

Hope you have a great week!

Inky hugs,

Tara
