Paper Rose Dies

Inspired by you

Hello all! Kia back with you today to share my card for day 25 of the Random Act of Cardness series. Today’s prompt word is “Flowers”.

I have used flowers by Honey Bee Stamps, which I stamped on vellum using Seedless Preserves distress ink. My background is done using a Paper Rose die to cut a piece which I used as a stencil, adding embossing ink, then heat embossing with Broken China distress ink.

When the heat embossing was finished I added distress ink in Seedless Preservcs around the edges of the heat embossed panel and attached it to my card base using foam tape.

I then inked up the centre die piece using the left over ink from my distress ink Seedless Preserves brush and attached the piece to the card using foam strips. To the back of the blooms I added vellum tape from my EZ runner.

To finish my card I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink, trimmed it and added to the card again using foam strips.

Thanks so much for joining me today. Following are Affiliate links for the products I used for this card, at no extra expense to you.

Sing a Song

Hello all. Kia with you for Day 19 of the Random Act of Cardness series. The prompt word for today is Chill. I decided I would use cold colours for my card, being the purple and blue, and there is silver in there too, and that equals chill to me.

There are several techniques used for this card. I have done the alcohol ink background using glossy card by Ranger. I then die cut the frame from Yupo paper so it would not be a stark white.

My base card is a turqouise, matching with the colour of the alcohol ink.

For the Cardinal I water coloured using distress inks in several colours. I did the Cardinal in layers working wet to wet for the first part. Before applying the final layers of red, I let the piece dry completely. As the tail feathers are in a shadow I applied a light layer of watered down black soot, patting off with paper towel after about 10 seconds.

To put the card together I attached the alcohol background to my card base using Nuvo adhesive. I then attached the frame to the card, again using Nuvo Adhesive only on the inside frame border.

Using my stylist I styled the Cardinal, then attached it to the cardbase using foam squares. I stamped the sentiment on hammermill card, die cut and attached under the claws of the bird, also using foam strips.

To finish off I added white gel pen under the black eye and across the bridge of the beak. I then glued on a few snowflake sequins, which also represent the chill of a cold winter day, which is what we have in my area.

On my blog I have a lot more detail along with pictures of the colours and the colouring process. You can view my blog here.

Bundled Up

Today’s Random Act of Kindness prompt is Watercolour. I decided I would use distress inks for the task. I have linked below the colours I used for her outfit. I kept the card clean and simple, as all the white represents the snow that we in the east are still dealing with.

I am using Arches cold press watercolour for the image stamped using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.

The sun is obstructed from view due to heavy snow clouds, so when viewing something that is outside in snow, the light source is coming from every angle and I painted with that in mind.

I cannot get enough of this little image, which always makes me happy when I colour her. I added a new to me die for the background representing the snow. It is a 2 piece die, with the middle piece a separate etched piece. Simply beautiful!

I glued the outer frame to my card base on the inner rectangle portion of the die. I then glued the back etched piece in place and using foam tape added the image.

To finish I added another die cut piece on the inside, leaving the etching piece out, and stamped the sentiment that comes with the stamp set again using the VersaFine Clair ink.

Thank you for stopping by today.
