Today’s Random Act of Kindness prompt is Watercolour. I decided I would use distress inks for the task. I have linked below the colours I used for her outfit. I kept the card clean and simple, as all the white represents the snow that we in the east are still dealing with.

I am using Arches cold press watercolour for the image stamped using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne.

The sun is obstructed from view due to heavy snow clouds, so when viewing something that is outside in snow, the light source is coming from every angle and I painted with that in mind.

I cannot get enough of this little image, which always makes me happy when I colour her. I added a new to me die for the background representing the snow. It is a 2 piece die, with the middle piece a separate etched piece. Simply beautiful!

I glued the outer frame to my card base on the inner rectangle portion of the die. I then glued the back etched piece in place and using foam tape added the image.

To finish I added another die cut piece on the inside, leaving the etching piece out, and stamped the sentiment that comes with the stamp set again using the VersaFine Clair ink.

Kia back with you today to share my card for our Random Act of Cardness challenges. Today’s prompt is “Acetate”. Be sure to join the challenge here.

I used acetate to add colour to the stamped image that shows in the background.

The alcohol inks were added to what would be the backside of my piece of acetate, so I had to think in terms of “opposites”. i.e. the inks had to be applied to the left side of the acetate, etc.

I used very little of the blending solution, using only to lighten the colours as I wanted the image to show through the inks. Once I was finished with the inks and had given ample time for the inks to dry I attached the acetate to my stamped card base using glue in the 4 corners.

I then die cut the frame 3 times centering it on a piece of A2 Hammermill card, which is 100lb. I then glued the 3 pieces together and glued the frame to the card base. I then die cut 4 pieces of Neenah 120lb card for the inside frame, gluing all together and attaching to the inside of the outer frame.

This made this frame stand higher than the outer frame which I think looks much better than the frames being flush.

I added the sticker sentiment to a piece of Neenah card and trimmed the piece, then added to my card using foam squares. To finish I added a few rhinestone gems to the card using the same colours.

Winter Comfort

Kia here for day 20 of the Random Act of Cardness series. Our prompt word today is “Pine”.

For my card I am using Tim Holtz/Sizzix Tall Pines and for my background  I used distress inks in Pine Needles and Chipped Sapphire. The Pines are die cut using Arches cold press watercolour paper, and the shadow below is cut from cardstock.

I put down the Pine Needles and spritzed with water, then smooshed my white card into the ink. Drying the piece between applications I did the same thing with the Chipped Sapphire ink. I tried to keep the piece moving for the ethereal look.

To add ink to the Pines I put down the Pine Needle ink and spritzed with water, then dragged the trees through the ink, continuing several times to ensure good coverage. In the mixture of ink I also spritzed in perfect pearls mixed with water for a bit of sparkle.

Using my heat gun I dried the Pine trees, then glued the trees together with the white card shadowing the green Pines.

Once the background was dry I glued it to my white card base using Tombow glue. I then added the Pine Trees with foam squares to add further dimension to the trees.

And to finish in my original Misti I stamped the sentiment from Penny Black using VersaFine Clair ink.

I really like the moody look of the card, with the background adding that cold winter feel. I hope you have enjoyed it as well.
