Tuesday with Tara {take 273} Poignant Poppies
Happy Tuesday!
I’ve got another throwback card for you today, this one was created for our blog hop last November and uses a lot of the same supplies featured in the card we shared for a TBT last week. Hope you like it!
my card
It wasn’t intentional, but the primary elements I chose were all from My Favorite Things (aka MFT)! I’ve used the Delicate Pretty Poppies stamp set, Framework stencil & Miss You dies. I decided to try my hand at ‘no lines coloring’ for the first time on this card. When I look closely I really wish I had practiced more before sharing, but it’s not bad for a first go at it! LOL
I stamped the poppies (blooms, stems & leaves are all separate stamps so you can create your own arrangements) with Scattered Straw Distress Ink. Once that set for a bit (not because it had to necessarily, but I was nervous and decided to walk away from it!), I set in with my Copics, starting with an outline in my mid-tone color. I won’t go into details of my technique because I really don’t think it was that great… I actually think I’ll look for a tutorial to watch before trying again!
finishing details
Once I finished coloring my poppies, I selected Lawn Fawn’s Dotted Square dies to cut it out. I also cut a larger layer in black to frame my design. The white background needed some detail, so I chose to take a risk and stencil over/around my image. I used the MFT Framework stencil, Distress Ink in Scattered Straw & Vintage Photo and gently inked the white space with a Life Changing Blender Brush by Picket Fence.
I finished off the card with a bit of washi tape & bling to highlight the die cut sentiment. On the card base, I stamped a poppy and sentiment from the stamp set multiple times in Scattered Straw for some subtle detail, then added a strip of torn paper and red twine to anchor it all. On a simple card, those little details can make a big difference!
Thanks for stopping by, I hope to see some of you sharing poppy themed makes in our Facebook group over the next few days!
Inky hugs,
Tara
