Tuesday with Tara {take 243} hold tight

Happy Tuesday!  Today is Day 14 of our ‘Random Acts of Cardness’ Challenge for April 2020, and the theme is texture… so I pulled out a stencil and some transparent gloss texture paste to make this little card to share!

I’m featuring  one of the ‘Snarky Cat’ stamps by Tim Holtz here.  This one reminded me of some of us who are just hanging on, waiting for an opportunity to get out of isolation!  My initial plan was to use a stencil that had a screen door sort of look to it, the closest I found was this faded dots background by Tim Holtz.   I swiped the paste through the stencil on a piece of kraft cardstock, then removed and cleaned my stencil and set the paper aside to dry a while.  I don’t know how long it took to dry, I just walked away and did some other tasks for a while!  I inked up some cardstock and stamped this cat three times so I could add dimension to his face & eyes.  When I came back, everything was dry and I was able to cut apart my layers and start piecing the card together!

I wanted the focus to be on both the textured panel and the cat, so I kept everything else pretty simple!   None of the sentiments in the stamp set were fitting the vibe I wanted for this card, but I found a sticker that was a perfect fit.  I chose the black version of the sticker to make it pop.  Since I wasn’t quite getting the screen door effect I hoped for, I added some black & white twine for him to ‘hold tight’ onto.  As a bonus, things like twine & ribbon are great ways to add extra texture to a card!  I usually avoid combining white & ivory together like I have here, but somehow it all works together.

I hope you like my bits of texture, and I hope you are able to “hold tight & pretend it’s a plan” right now 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara
