Random Acts of Cardness

Add a Little Splatter!

Happy Friday! I have a little inspiration for you for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, SPLATTER:

Making cards to show support for Ukraine is still on my mind, so I knew I wanted to make something with blue and yellow. I pulled out this pretty Filled In Florals set from Concord & 9th, stamping the large flower in stone blue ink from Catherine Pooler and the smaller one with juniper mist. Both flower centres are stamped in tiara, and the leaves in garden party. Before I did anything else, I did some splattering! I think splatter is a great way to add extra interest to a CAS card design. I used tiara and stone blue for my splatters, tapping a little of each ink out on some acetate then using a small brush and some water to make it splatter-thin-enough. Once the splatters had dried, I stamped my two part sentiment and put the card together.

What about you, are you ready to add some splatter to your next project? If you do, link up to the Facebook challenge page, and don’t forget to add the hashtag #snschallenge to your socials. And if you feel a shop coming on, remember you can use 10Lindsey to get 10% off your order!

Inspiration time for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt: STENCILS!

This little guy is probably my very favourite bunny stamp – I have a little figurine that looks just like him that my grandmother gave me when I was very young. <3  To start the card, I blended shaded lilac, blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire distress inks using a My Favorite Things watercolour wash stencil. With the stencil still in place, I applied a layer of Nebula glitter gel over the inks. While that dried, I stamped and coloured my bunny with Copics before die cutting him and the crescent moon. I also stamped and embossed the sentiment, and coloured the strip with the leftover ink on my purple brush. Once the background (finally) dried, it was an easy task to put everything together.

I hope you’ll consider joining February’s challenge! Have a great week.

Some FURRY Tracey Hey Fun

Happy Friday! Here we are, the weekend before Valentines Day, so I suppose I could have gone with something mushy for today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt, but instead I chose FURRY! Not that we aren’t mushy with our furry friends. 😉  I also wanted to break out another Tracey Hey stamp set, and remind you there is still time to visit and comment on our Wild ‘n Whimsy Inspiration Hop for your chance to win one of these sweet stamp sets! And with that… here is my card:

Isn’t this little pup a cutie? While personally I always choose red rubber boots 😀  I decided to give this guy bright yellow ones. He comes from the Hot Dog set, along with two other sweet wiener dogs and accompanying sentiments. I added clouds and a sentiment from an older Lawn Fawn set. The sky and ground are distress inks, with the help of a die cut mask for the grass. The card base is made from sour apple My Favorite Things cardstock.

If you are wondering about the sentiment, it continues on the inside, along with a sticker from my previous teaching life:

If your weekend includes some crafting time, perhaps you’ll consider joining the SnS challenge – one person will win a $50 gift code to the Scrap ‘n Stamp store!
