Toucan Paradise card featuring Concord& 9th

Tara’s Toucan of  My Appreciation card features  the Toucan Paradise stamp set from Concord & 9th.  Raya here sharing some oldie but goodies with you while Tara is on the move.  I think if I was moving my craft stuff is the last stuff I’d pack and the second I’d unpack. Kitchen first can’t unpack or craft without coffee!

Tara’s original post —

Happy Tuesday, and happy birthday to ME! I’m definitely feeling another year older this year, but every day I wake up is a gift I am grateful for! I want to take today to share a TOUCAN of my appreciation with you. Yep, I’ve got another card (actually TWO) featuring the fun Toucan Paradise stamp set by Concord &9th, together with Distress Oxide Inks.

I’m so grateful for each of you that visits the SNS blog every Tuesday to see what I’ve been up to! I’m making an effort to share more on Instagram and here on my personal blog this year. I’ll try to mix things up and keep the inspiration coming… so I hope you’ll check those out too! I’ll be having a little giveaway on my Instagram account, so come visit me, msespresso, there!

Card Elements

Today’s card has a lot of the same elements you might remember from the one I shared a couple weeks ago. This time I went with Abandoned Coral as my main accent colour. The rest of the colours are actually the same, isn’t it amazing how changing one colour can give it a much more feminine feel? I also added a few stripe details & the leaf outline in Pumice Stone, which really lightens things up! I love the addition of that pale grayish tone in the mix!

Simple Stamping

My second card was made ultra simple to coordinate with the first. It was inspired by a CAS (clean and simple) challenge on instagram to stamp ‘along the edge’ of your card. I’m loving the foliage in this Toucan Paradise stamp set, so I used just the leaves & flowers for this card. I’ve noticed that most cards people share as CAS are on a white base, but I think a kraft card can still look clean 🙂 This simple design will look great on white as well, so I’ll be duplicating it in the near future, I’m sure!

Thanks again for stopping by to see what I made! I hope you’ll look me up (msespresso) on instagram- follow me & leave a comment… perhaps I’ll be sending you some happy mail soon!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 277} Christmas Joy

Happy Tuesday!  Today’s card is hoping to send some Christmas JOY your way with this bold & simple card design featuring a great die cut sentiment by MFT over a background created with assorted Rustic Wilderness Distress products.

The background was a bit of a ‘practice’ piece which I stamped, inked & stenciled on while working on some of my recent projects, so it has a variety of designs worked into it that ended up making a pretty fun background for a card like this!

I had hoped to make this card using one of the fun Iconic Christmas shapes that was featured in the blog hop, but I’m still waiting on mine to arrive in the mail… so I pulled out this cute Santa hat from the Festive Things die set by Tim Holtz.  I die cut it from red card stock as well as a scrap of white (the same pearly card stock I used for the sentiment).  Once I glued it all together and did some inking, I added a bit of Nuvo Glitter Drops to the hat.  I found some chunky green glitter I bought last Christmas and added it around the hat in the ‘O’ for a bit of extra fun.

All in all, this card pieced together pretty quickly and you can bet I’ll be making some more with a variety of colors and shapes in the opening!  I also have plans for another card using the letters that I cut out from this one… tis the season!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 272} Layered Thank You

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m using some layered dies by Spellbinders- the bold type thank you and a unique Kaleidoscope Tile, which is a set of three dies that sit perfectly on top of each other to create a pretty pattern.  The tile is 2″ square and to be honest, choosing to use these dies together proved a bit more difficult than I expected because of the sizes.  I chose to arrange it this way to balance them out, but I’d love to play again with it… perhaps 3 tiles on a slimline card base would be fun!

Isn’t it pretty?  It kinda reminds me of a quilt square.

If you look closely at the brown, bottom layer of the sentiment you can see a striped texture softly etched into it.  It’s a very simple card, meant to showcase the details in these die cuts.  The only ink on this card is a bit of Ground Espresso Distress Ink along the edges of the die cuts and the base layer.

Thanks for stopping by!

Inky hugs,

Tara
