Sizzix Tim Holtz

Trick or Treat

Hello all! Kia here with you today. I would first like to wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.

I decided to do a Halloween card to share with you today. I have used stamps and dies from two different companies, one being Concord & 9th, the other My Favorite Things. It was just too hard to resist putting these together, it is like they were made for one another. As I had a lot that I wanted to fit on my card, I decided to make a tall 3.75 x 8.5 card.

I started first with the night sky by first masking off where I wanted the moon to be. I then sponged on my inks, working with Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks and starting with Shaded Lilac, moving on to Blueprint Sketch and finishing around the edges with Wilted Violet. I then removed the moon mask, and applied the sky mask to protect the sky while I did the moon. Again using Distress Oxide Inks, I started with Antique Linen and finished with Wild Honey. Once finished, I removed the masks and ran the hose from my Mini Mister along some areas on the moon, then sprinkled the entire area with water droplets.

I stamped all the images from both sets using Memento Ink in Jet Black, and die cut using my Gemini, then coloured with Chameleon Markers. For the grass areas I sponged on distress oxide in Peeled Paint. I attached a row of the trees and the houses using foam squares and glue, and used foam squares for the critters. I added Wink of Stella to the cape on the fox, and really wished I had room for the extra pumpkin and candies, but I will use them inside instead.

I hope you have enjoyed this Halloween card. I have listed the products below, which can all be found in the Scrap’n Stamp Store.

Thanks so much for visiting Scrap’n Stamp today.

Tuesday with Tara {take 86}

Happy Tuesday!

IMG_9195

I love combining stamps that have been in my collection for years with newer tools, like an old favorite negative image stamp by Hero Arts from my stash as the background (inked with a couple shades of Distress Ink) and newer wildflower dies by Tim Holtz.

IMG_9196

I grouped together three of the dies, simple cut from black cardstock, to create a bouquet.  I added some neutral patterned paper from a 6×6 Prima paper pad to frame my focal point, adding a bit of Distress ink and distressing with a tool for texture.  A few wraps of thin jute string are another simple embellishment that adds a lot!

I really like layering my word dies over a white duplicate to help them stand out.  It draws your eye to them without adding bulk. For tiny elements like words and florals, matte medium is a fabulous adhesive as you will not see it when it is dry!

Thanks for visiting!  Have a creative week…

inky hugs,

Tara

TBT with Shari T – Tim Tag for February

HELLO HELLO HELLO!!  Happy Thursday!!  I’ve got a busy weekend ahead of me, (with Sunday being March 1st and all) (nudge nudge-wink wink) so I wanted to get my version of Tim Holtz’s February Tag in before all the brouhaha begins 🙂

DSC06347

I pretty  much followed Tim’s techniques except, I’m using his Eclectic Elements Fabrics for my  background!  I’ve been messing around with his fabrics lately (nudge nudge-wink wink) and am getting down to just a few scrap pieces, so, I thought FUN, just use fabrics instead of ephemera pieces and paper!!

DSC06305

Here’s an assortment of some of the pieces of EE fabrics I have left and there’s my #8 tag, that I had previously done a Distress Spray Stain monoprint technique on.

DSC06308

This will be the backside of my tag–you can see a little bit of the batting I’ve adhered to the front side peeking out.

DSC06310

Here are my scraps all sewn together, with a holiday flash card and a couple of strips of tissue tape as part of my patchwork, too.

DSC06311

Here’s a little bit of Picket Fence DP rubbed along the seams.

DSC06313

Things got a little but grungier with the addition of rubbing Black Soot DM along the seams, too.  Something I didn’t take pictures of–I added two butterflies to this tag.  I wasn’t happy with it as it was in this picture–I fussy cut two butterflies from my Collage paper stash and adhered to the tag.

DSC06339

Here you can see the two butterflies that I added and I machine stitched a piece of Tim’s red & cream ric-rac to the tag, too.

DSC06352

I improvised at making my own industrial frame–I used foil tape on cardstock, embossed with polka dots, then die cut using my framelits dies.  I also dyed my felt heart.  I don’t have red felt, but I have off-white, so I stained it with Barn Door DS and heat dried.  When I stitched the heart to the tag, it was still kind of damp, and you can see how some of the DS stained the thread!

DSC06345

I treated the word band and brads with Picket Fence DP and adhered to my tag with hot glue.

DSC06343

I treated the arrow, wire and mini corner with Picket Fence DP, then I hot glued the arrow in place and I gently hammered the corner piece in place.

DSC06348

Here is the back of the tag with all of the stitching making quite the design!

DSC06347

Oh boy–another month down on the Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2015!  I’m headed over there now to get this tag in–talk about down to the wire!  Tim’s February tag challenge closes Saturday the 28th, so hurry up!

I’ll be back on Saturday–it’s going to be a busy day here at Ain’t That Artsy Fartsy and a new month of creativity in store for you!

Until next time–Stay Artsy Fartsy!!
