Abstract Florals

Monday, April 5th, 2021

Are you ready for some Abstract Florals, made easy with a Penny Black Brushstroke stamps and Tombow markers.

My thought process for both of these cards was my favourite watercolour look, being abstract painting, this time done using a stamp instead of freehand.

I did the card on the right first using Arches cold press watercolour paper and the markers along with my Misti. Starting with the leaves I coloured using turquoise and green. I then spritzed the paper and the stamp with water and stamped, then held the piece up horizontally spritzing the colour on the leaves and stem giving the abstract look. I then dried the area with my heat gun.

Moving on to the flowers, I added three layers of colour. The first colour being Orange, spritzed and stamped, the second Yellow, spritzed and stamp and the final being Dark Pink spritzed and stamped. Again I held the piece up and added more water to the colours allowing them to bleed out.

Once dry I did the splatters using the turquoise marker and water, added in Gold Perfect Pearls mixed with water then splattering on Gouache mixed with water. Finishing off I stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Warm Breeze then attached the card to a coral base using foam tape.

For this card I used some of the same techniques, however as I am working with Neenah cardstock I cut down on the water considerably.

I coloured the leaves and stem as previously, using the turquoise and green along with a light spritz of water. For the flowers I used a red marker only. But before colouring I spritzed the floral part of the stamp with water and stamped on the card panel. This activates the card stock, leaving texture where the flowers will be.

I then dried the stamp and coloured using the red marker, and stamped. I did not need more water as the cardstock was still damp from the spritzing. I dried the panel then stamped the sentiment using VersaFine Clair ink in Nocturne and attaching to a turquoise card base using foam tape.

I enjoyed making these cards and I hope you have enjoyed them as well. Following are Affiliate links to the store for the products that I have used for this card today, at no extra cost to you.

Hello all, Kia here with you today for Day 15 of the Random Act of Cardness Challenges. My challenge is on Brush Stroke Stamping. I realize on the list it only says Brush, I think they ran out of room. 🙂

We planned our challenges back in April, but as luck would have it Penny Black just put up the above Video on the subject, and she used the same stamp as I have. Fortunately we have used different colours and layouts.

I use a different technique than Jill does, and over on my blog I have gone into a lot of detail about how I do it. I also have a few more pictures of the progression of colours.

When I was done with my colouring, using the grid and magnets of my Stay-tion and a stencil, (tape can be used) I brushed on Buttercup Ink in opposite corners of my card front. I then stamped the “SHE” and heat embossed with gold embossing powder, then stamped the rest of the sentiment using VersaFine Clair Ink in Green Oasis.

To finish up I added Midas Touch Shimmering Pen to the Butterfly. I matted with Gold Mirror cardstock, then a Red Cherry Gina K Design card base. I then added a scattering of Crystal Dew Drops around the card.

I hope you enjoy this card today and wish to thank you for visiting us here at Scrap’n Stamp. A reminder when shopping in the Store to use my Discount Code 10KIA.

Penny Black Harmony

Sunday, August 11th, 2019

Hi crafting friends, Sandi MacIver here and I’m honored to share a new card idea with you today created with the New – Just arrived Penny Black Harmony stamp.

Scrap 'N Stamp Penny Black Harmony

It was LOVE at first sight with this stamp and I decided to watercolor it with my Tombow Markers.

I started by black heat embossing the image into a piece of watercolor paper.

Then I colored the image with my Tombow Markers. The Tombow Marker Dual Tip Markers are water-based and create fabulous watercolor images combined with a water brush pen. Just add some color and blend with the water brush – Yep, it’s that easy!….
TIP – do a small section at a time though, so the ink doesn’t dry out, then it becomes hard to move.

The colors I chose are #379, #403, #291 From THIS SET of 9, and Chocolate Brown #969 to do the shadows and leaves.

Here’s a video showing how I like to watercolor with these fabulous markers….it’s super easy. You can view it here, or in HD over on my my YOUTUBE Channel .

The video also walks you step by step through the creation of today’s card.

Next I used two dies from the Taylored Expressions Stitched Square Stacklets to create a frame for my pretty flowers.

I white heat embossed a sentiment on a scrap of black card stock and then created a watercolor background with my Gansai Tambi watercolors #47 – brown and #57 Teal Blue.

Finally, after putting the card together, I added a few drops the NEW Nuvo Stone Drops in Gold Rush – you are so going to love this color for your vintage cards….it Rocks!

Ok, that’s it for me today. I hope you enjoyed my Penny Black Harmony Card and I have listed the products I used today below in affiliate links directly to the Scrap ‘N Stamp site.
