Tuesday with Tara {take 246} Tropical Foliage

Happy Tuesday!  It’s Cinco de Mayo (the 5th of May) and we’ve taken the holiday as our inspiration to challenge you to create a TROPICAL card today for our Random Acts of Cardness!  (I considered going with TACOS or MARGARITAS as the theme, but this seemed like something more people could play along with… instead I’ll just have those for dinner tonight!)

My cards feature the fabulous  Toucan Paradise stamp set by Concord & 9th, which I stamped with classic Distress Ink on both mint & white card stock.  I wasn’t sure which I wanted to use for my card, so in the end I made two cards!  I paired my tr=opical foliage with a sentiment from Gina K Design’s Colossal Coneflower stamp set.  It’s got such a pretty script to it, so I inked it up ombre style to match my background.

These sentiments are perfectly shaped to fit in a circle, so I used a stitched circle die to cut it out from white cardstock.  I added a touch of Nuvo glitter drops to the ‘awesome’ and a combination of that and some white Nuvo Crystal Drops to my background, which I also splattered with white paint.  The finishing touch is some crinkle ribbon which I inked up with the same two shades of Distress Ink I stamped in- Peeled Paint & Broken China.  I absolutely love how the green & blue bleed together on the bias tape and dry with so many color variations!

Here’s my simple second card- the same inks & stamps on a white background, which I cut with an edge die and added to a green card which I white embossed the Paper Hug stamp on.  I kept this one super simple, the only extra I added was a few of the white Nuvo Crystal drops.

I hope you have an AWESOME day.  I hope you find time to create a tropical retreat in some small way… even if it’s just eating tacos or drinking a margarita!

Inky hugs,

Tara
