Mandela Magic with blissfully blended Backgrounds

Hello Crafty Friends Happy Thursday,

I am excited to be on the blog today sharing some cards and backgrounds inspired by the wonderful  Kristina Werner and her amazing distress oxide colour combinations she shared on a recent video

I got a bit carried away and made NUMEROUS backgrounds which I will turn all into cards in the next few days. But for today I will share the few cards I did manage to finish. The rest of the backgrounds can be found over at my blog Nancy Grace Creations

.

I started out just playing around with the different colours as I was in awe of how Kristina’s turned out.

I did pull out a few other colours that I found to be pretty and work well together, along with Kristina’s choices. The colours were Tattered Rose, Ripped Persimmons, Abandon Coral, Wilted Violet, Shaded lilac, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, and Seedless Preserve. I also pulled out a few stencils from my stash, white gesso and my distress tools.

I started with some white card-stock and added the white gesso over it, applying it using various stencils, this one pictured here was the Kaiser Craft Mandela stencil. Once I had applied it I set it aside to dry and went on to ink up more panels (which you can see on my blog) in different colour combinations, just playing around was really fun and helped get my mojo flowing.  I kept it simple for the card designs as I wanted the background to be the focal point.

For this card I kept it simple. I die cut out the You sentiment from a MFT die multiple times to give it dimension. I also cut it out once using deco foil transfer sheet and ran it through my laminator using gold foil. I then layered that slightly off set under the previously cut word.

For the card base itself I cut some Pink delight Shimmer card-stock down to 4 3/8 x 5 3/4 , the black layer is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and then I die cut the inked panel using the MFT Stitched rectangle dies which measured 5 1/4 x 4 . I popped up the distressed panel on  to the black card-stock then added it to the card base flat with some strong adhesive.

I stamped and embossed the little sentiment and die cut using a banner die from MFT also.  I finished it off with some gold sequins  and some clear glitter pen.

For details on the other cards  you can head to my blog, where I will have many more pictures and details.

Hope you have found some inspiration form this blog and please feel free to share your feedback or drop a comment.

Have a Great Weekend
