It’s a Mice Time To Celebrate

Hi Everyone! It’s Susan here today sharing a card for the Random Acts of Cardness and one of my favorite techniques. Ink Smooshing. It’s so much fun!

Here’s a look at the finished card

Let’s start at the beginning.

  1. smoosh some ink onto a glass mat, plastic sheet or a stamping block then give it a few sprays of water.
  2. take your paper (I used watercolor paper) and dab into the puddle of ink.

3. Be sure to dry between layers with a heat tool (this pic is after I repeated steps 1-3 with 3 colors)

I used 6 colors of ink on this panel so that means I repeated steps 1-3 six times. After I was done with the ink smooshing I made some more puddles of ink and using a small paint brush I splattered on some ink. I did this with 3 of the 6 ink colors.

I used Distress Oxide inks for this card so that tends to give a muted look. If you want to ‘brighten’ it up a bit take a little Distress Glaze and rub it all over the panel. Just use your finger to rub it on and this gives the ink a polished look. It’s hard to see in the pic but in real life there’s a definite difference.

For the rest of the card I stamped a mouse from MFT’s It’s a Mice Time to Celebrate stamp set, colored it in with my Prismacolor Pencils then fussy cut it out. There are coordinating dies for this set but I don’t have them and I don’t mind fussy cutting so I just cut it out.

The sentiments are from the same set and are embossed with WOW White embossing powder onto black card stock -probably my favorite way to do a sentiment – then adhered directly to the panel.

I attached the mouse with a wobbler for some fun – after all it is a party!

If you try this technique be sure to share it in the Facebook Challenge page. We’d love to see it.

Happy Stampin’

and thanks so much for visiting!
Stay safe everyone!!
