Tuesday with Tara {take 440} Knowing Bee

Happy Tuesday!

If you joined me live on Facebook last week (or caught the replay) you would have seen me color up this Funky bee near the end of our time together.  After all my watercolored bits were dry, I glued my layers together and added some Glossy Accents to his wings.  Since the watercolor paper I was working on was a lighter weight, it gives it a somewhat translucent effect.  It’s not what I intended… but it’s kinda perfect for wings!

I know it’s another grey card base, but I really thought the Silverleaf Willow by Prism Studio complemented the colors of my bee quite nicely.  I cut a wide border at the crease side of my card with one of the Puffy Cloud Border dies by Lawn Fawn.

Behind the bee, I used some book print which I spritzed with some Distress Oxide Spray in Salvaged Patina.  I then adhered that paper to white cardstock and attached it under the creased edge of my card.  I stamped a sentiment from one of my older Tim Holtz stamp sets (CMS086 if you’re wondering) to finish it off.

I’ll show you how I did that fold and assembled the card during this week’s Facebook Live, but our finished card will feature the dragonfly I colored :). Hope to see you there!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 439} Dogwoods

Happy Tuesday!

The dogwood trees are in glorious full bloom where I live, so I couldn’t resist making a card with the lovely Dogwood Triptych Die by Memory Box.  I die cut it in white and layered the pieces over a panel from the Vintage Letters 6×6 pad by Impression Obsession.  I wanted to keep my card soft and neutral, so colored it as realistic as I was able with Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons, then pieced some green behind the open centers.  It was a bit brighter than I wanted, so I added some 3D dots with Glossy Accents and brushed a bit of copper (Mined Alloy) over them once they were dry.

I’ve used Lamb’s Ear cardstock as my card base- it’s a soft grayish green that was a lovely base for some white embossing of an older Tim Holtz sentiment, reminding us that Hope is Never Lost (kinda speaks like spring, to me!).  I added a pierced stitch border along each side of the paper panel for a bit of extra interest. (These are stitched borders by Paper Rose.)

I was going for a soft a simple card today, so I hope that comes through!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 435} Sunshine & Rainbows

Happy Tuesday,

I’ve been wanting to try my hand at making a rainbow since I got my hands on the MFT Oblong STAX dies and St. Patrick’s Day seems like a perfect time to make a rainbow card… even if my ‘pot of gold’ happens to be some yellow flowers & a bunch of bling!

I arranged dies (skipping a size between each) on a Magnetic Sizzix Platform, and cut layers in three colors which I had inked up with Distress Ink blends.  I paired it with a sentiment by Crafter’s Companion– it’s the sunshine die paired with a variety of sentiments to mix & match with it.  (It may not be available anymore, but it was part of their Sunflower collection if you find it in stock somewhere!).  I had some yellow flowers sitting on my desk, so they seemed like a really fun fit, together with a bunch of bling!

I added some heart shaped “clouds” to the other edge of the rainbow for a soft finish… and mounted everything on a stitched rectangle layer for a white on white card base!

I hope it makes you smile!

Inky hugs,

Tara
