Tuesday with Tara {take 440} Knowing Bee

Happy Tuesday!

If you joined me live on Facebook last week (or caught the replay) you would have seen me color up this Funky bee near the end of our time together.  After all my watercolored bits were dry, I glued my layers together and added some Glossy Accents to his wings.  Since the watercolor paper I was working on was a lighter weight, it gives it a somewhat translucent effect.  It’s not what I intended… but it’s kinda perfect for wings!

I know it’s another grey card base, but I really thought the Silverleaf Willow by Prism Studio complemented the colors of my bee quite nicely.  I cut a wide border at the crease side of my card with one of the Puffy Cloud Border dies by Lawn Fawn.

Behind the bee, I used some book print which I spritzed with some Distress Oxide Spray in Salvaged Patina.  I then adhered that paper to white cardstock and attached it under the creased edge of my card.  I stamped a sentiment from one of my older Tim Holtz stamp sets (CMS086 if you’re wondering) to finish it off.

I’ll show you how I did that fold and assembled the card during this week’s Facebook Live, but our finished card will feature the dragonfly I colored :). Hope to see you there!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 429} Many Hearts

Happy Tuesday friends!

Today I’ve got a sweet & simple Valentine to share- once again I’m featuring die cut hearts in a variety of colors & sizes.  I had fun arranging the glitter & foil hearts in a “random” pattern I liked for this card, but it needed a little something more.

A textured white background, created using the layered dots dies from Tim Holtz was a fun addition.  It’s a set of 3 dies, but I’ve only used the top two layers for this card (the bottom one is solid).  I finished things off with a sentiment (also Tim Holtz) stamped in purple and assorted sizes of red & purple bling scattered across the card.

I find when you are working on white, it’s nice to add some texture and I think this worked out pretty well!  You would never know the background was part of a Halloween release… I hope it inspires you to pull out some of your supplies and maybe use them for a Valentine this year!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara (take 428) Sending You Love

Happy Tuesday, friends!  This card was inspired by all the pretty new Prism Studio papers- there’s a gorgeous range of Whole Spectrum Foil Cardstock  and Whole Spectrum Glitter Cardstock.
Today I chose to showcase a trio of hearts in RUBY.  Isn’t it pretty!?  I’ve also used the Brushed Gold Foil for the die cut “love” sentiment.  I kept this card really simple, cutting 3 hearts the same size from one of the Prism Nesting Hearts dies.  I chose to let the glittery heart be the central one, though it could have gone either way!  I had a 2″ strip of Patterned Paper (from the vintage letters 6×6 pad by IO) and mounted it to the lower portion of an A2 Kraft Card.  I mounted my trio of hearts from the outside in, giving the glittery heart a 3D boost with some foam squares.
The sentiment features stamps & dies from Honey Bee’s ‘Bitty Buzzwords’ set.  I added some foam squares to the edges of the sentiment strip as well so it was level over the central glitter heart.

And here’s another photo so you can get a better look at all that shine!   I know it’s simple, but isn’t it pretty, too!?  It feels like a very classic Valentine to me!  I hope you like it too.

Inky hugs,

Tara
