I recently got the It’s a Mice Time To Celebrate Stamp Set from My Favorite Things and it has quickly become a favorite. There’s a coordinating die for it but I haven’t got that – yet lol. I decided to combine it with the My Favorite Things Basic Shapes Circle Stencil and make a festive birthday card.

I started by masking off the circles so I could ink up one at a time. I layered it onto some white card stock, inked it up with some embossing ink, removed the stencil then poured on some embossing powder and heat set it. I repeated this process a few more times with different circles and two embossing powders – (red & purple). Next I used two Distress Oxide inks – (orange and green) and repeated the process with the stencil and a couple of sponge daubers to add some more color.
I ran the panel through my die-cutting machine with a stitched rectangle die, added some craft foam to the back then added it to a white card base. I added the outer edge piece directly to the card base.
I stamped the image onto some white card stock, colored it in with some Prismacolor Pencils then cut it with a circle die cut. I adhered that to the panel cutting the edge, with a black circle piece tucked under it. I stamped the sentiment with embossing ink onto black card stock and heat set it with white embossing powder.

Embossing over a stenciled background whew?? Here have I been? I LOVE THE LOOK OF THAT. Okay, I am a stencil newbie and have just started to play with them and man 0 man do I love this! I can see where those mices would be a favorite, they are A.dor.a.ble! Hmmm… Are cupcakes a decoration , tee hee, if not… my favorite decoration would be balloons. Really like this card!

I really like the BOLD colors you chose. The mouse is so so cute, I just love his little personality. My favorite decoration is a themed banner. I have done unicorns, sea creatures, the Declaration of Independence, and several holidays. I will be making an Easter one soon. I have made many for birthdays over the last few years….

Oh my gosh that mouse is so adorable and fabulous design, so much work to do all those circles so perfectly. My fav decoration would be non latex balloons (allergy in the fam.) with funny sayings. On my 50th birthday my daughter sent a balloon to my place of employment and since I was the gal that worked lunches I had to carry that balloon from department to department for a few hours.
