Hi! I'm Tara and I've been creating and teaching classes in the paper crafting industry for 15 years in Western Canada. I closed my rubber stamp & scrapbook store in 2013 to get married & move to North Carolina, but my passion is still getting inky and sharing the love of this hobby wherever I can! I started out as a card maker, but over the years I have done it all- from cards & mini books, to scrapbooking & mixed media projects. I'm certified by both Ranger & Copic and I look forward to sharing some creative fun and maybe getting inky with you in one of my classes soon!

Tuesday with Tara (take 80)

Happy Tuesday!  Hope you`ve had a fantastic week and a great start to 2017… maybe you even got some creative time in!  Here in the south we`ve been hit with WINTER STORM 2017 and actually had a couple snow days where we didn`t venture far from home… between that and football season, I`ve had some extra time to hide out in the creative studio and get a bit inky.  I`ve been pulling out some supplies that are still new (aka unused) despite being in my stash for a few years.  The floral stamp I used on this card is one of those- it`s a stunning image by Magenta and it felt great to finally ink it up!

I hadn`t used my Distress Sprays for a while, so I decided an embossing resist would be fun with this image.  I heat embossed the flower in white, then misted it with three shades of ink.

My cardstock absorbed the ink very quickly, but I loved the look even if it wasn`t what I was expecting!  I really wanted the images to stand on their own, so a simple sentiment (by Dina Wakley) embossed on cardstock was my finishing touch, along with a few dabs of Glossy Accents in the flower centers.

If you haven`t made any resolutions or goals for 2017, Keep Taking Chances seems to me like a great one!  Especially creatively 🙂

Have a creative week!

Inky hugs,

Tara

TUESDAY WITH TARA {TAKE 79}

Happy New Year and Happy Tuesday!  I`m looking forward to a great new year full of creativity, and I hope you are too!

hello2017-2Hello 2017- You sparkle!  I had fun with this card, pulling out a Sizzix pop-up card die I`d never used before (although I`ve had it for several years!) and paired it with my big Tim Holtz Word Play alpha & number die.  I also found this gorgeous glitter paper in my stash and was delighted to find cardstock & ink (Distress Cracked Pistachio) that looked great along with it!  I wanted to design a card that was crisp & fresh like the new year, I hope you like how it turned out!

hello2017-3

The snowflakes are by Inkadinkado & Magenta & the sentiment is an oldie by Hero Arts.  I love taking older supplies from my stash to create something new… almost as much as I like adding something new to my stash 🙂 There`s some great deals in the store right now!

hello2017-4

My numbers pop with some offset layering onto white pearl cardstock, and this circle of mirror cardstock from another project adds a fun touch (pretty tricky to photograph though!).  I loved finding a Prima flower that coordinates perfectly with the other elements on my card.

hello2017-1

I had fun with my first card of 2017, and I`m looking forward to creating many more… and sharing them with you!  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a creative day,

Inky hugs,

Tara
