Tuesday with Tara {take 434} Celebrate You!

Happy Tuesday!

I wanted to continue on the birthday theme we started with our current Birthday Bash Hop (go check it out if you haven’t already!) and see what I could do with the fun birthday washi tape I used on my hop card!  I wasn’t sure what I was going to do, until I saw my friend Nancy had joined a new sketch challenge design team.  She shared her first card on Monday and I used the inspiration from that sketch for the one you see today!

I definitely made some modifications, but I think it has similar vibes… I selected colors based on the washi tape, which has two shades of pink, orange & green.  I got a package from Scrap ‘N Stamp this week that had some Jewelz in it called “Key West” that feature similar colors so I decided to scatter them all over the card (I just skipped the blue ones)!  Let me tell ya, you never know how many gems come in a package until it breaks in transit and they are loose in the box.  haha!

Other elements on this card:

It’s a fun & simple, bling covered card that was fun to make with a variety of pieces I had on my work space 🙂 Hope it makes you smile!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 424} Winter Birthday Wishes

Happy Boxing Day, friends!  (or happy Tuesday to those of you in the USA. LOL)

Just because Christmas Day has come & gone, we don’t have to stop using our snowy crafty supplies!  Especially if they are relatively new and you still have inspiration for them… so today I’m sharing a winter birthday card!  It’s fairly simple, but has tons of shimmer & shine!

My background is this gorgeous Pierced Fancy Flakes A2 cover plate by Honey Bee, cut in blue then spritzed with some pearly mica spray.  I was looking for something shiny to complement the background, and none of my blues or silvers looked quite right… then I remembered I had some Holographic Foil Cardstock and thought I’d give it a try… I think we can agree it turned out kinda fabulous!

I cut a sentiment (birthday wishes by MFT) and some snowflakes (snow time by Penny Black) from the foil cardstock (sorry- can’t fine either of these in the online store at the moment!) and added some clear bling to finish it off!  Any snowflakes or sentiment would be lovely out of this- it’s a touch finicky to deal with, but is totally worth it when you get these results!  I was very impressed it photographed well, too!

I hope you had a lovely Christmas- and if you’re still on vacation, enjoy every minute!  Don’t forget to take some time to be creative and make some snowy thank you or birthday cards to get you through January 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 421} Birthday Bug

Happy Tuesday!  It’s definitely the season for making & sending Christmas cards, because of that it can be a bit challenging for those people who have December birthdays.  My grandson, who turned 1 yesterday, is one of those people!  I decided to use the same stamp set I worked with for the Christmas Critters Blog Hop (you can see my card HERE) and use it on a quick, but playful birthday card!

I had a blue rectangle die cut and the Lawn Fawn Knit Picky Winter 6×6 paper pad sitting on my desk, so they were the inspiration for the rest of the card!  I wanted to use one of the little bugs in the Christmas Hats stamp set by Anita Jeram, thinking they would be cute paired with this bold birthday greeting by Tim Holtz.  I love using these bold sentiments when I need a quick card!

I stamped the sentiment in Prize Ribbon Distress Ink and added this cute little bug in black.  I almost left it just like that, but decided to add a bit of color and shimmer with a touch of a gelly roll Stardust pen, as well (did you know you can do watercolor blending with these? You can see it a bit on the bug’s belly). I finished it off (as well as the die cut “1” I added) with a bit of Glossy Accents to help it stand out!

I didn’t make this adorable little cake (that Shyloe was not at all interested in smashing.  LOL), but thought I’d share since it matched my card so well!  Isn’t it pretty!?

I’ve got another birthday card using the same colors to share as well- watch for it on my Instagram & blog later this week!  If you haven’t done our Christmas Critters blog hop yet, start here and check it out- there’s some really great makes to inspire you!

Inky hugs,

Tara
