Tuesday with Tara {take 28}

Happy Tuesday!  Do you ever get a hankerin’ to make a card that features a cheesy pun?  I’m pretty sure it’s genetic (thanks, dad!) but sometimes when I’m working/playing with a set of stamps I can’t help but feel the puns coming on… and sometimes I let them make their way onto my finished creation 🙂  That’s what happened with this card featuring the ‘Wild West’ stamp set by Tim Holtz.  I was looking for new ways to use it and before too long I had a fun idea for a belated birthday card (which tends to be the only kind I actually mail, so it’s handy to have good ideas for them!).  I don’t have the best photos of this card, but I think you can get the general idea of my layout from the front & inside photos here:

My card was folded off center to allow for a bit of the inside to show at the front of the card- I added a strip of patterned paper to the right side and the inside sentiment was printed on a tag, which was attached so it added an extra design element to the front of the card as well.

Both tags were inked up with Distress Stains & lots of water for a fun washed out look, which has some serious punch to it due to the deeper shades I chose to combine with pale colors like antique linen.  The saloon was stamped in a dark brown Archival ink and the pistol in black to make it stand out, along with the black die cut letters from Tim’s Chip Block alphabet strip die, which I also covered in Crackle Accents (good news- I think I mentioned a while back that this product had been discontinued by Ranger, but I spotted it on display at CHA this week so you can still get your hands on it!).

Speaking of CHA, I’m excited to see what new products will be arriving in the shop in the coming weeks… it’s always a fun time of year with so many new releases!  And since I’m currently behind the times as far as what’s new, it’s also a great time to stock up on products that are being cleared out to make room for all the new goodies 🙂  Keep checking back at the store to see what’s new and what’s on it’s way out at a great price (like some fab deals on Christmas stamps & dies right now)!

Have a creative day, I’ll see you back here next Tuesday 🙂

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 27}

It’s the first Tuesday of 2016, so Happy New Year!  Today I have a simple tag to share with you that I hope gives a celebratory feeling for the new year!

I started with a black tag and the clockwork stencil by Tim Holtz.  I applied some Inka Gold (by Viva Decor) with a wet sponge through the stencil.  It had a few smudges, but I planned on adding flowers & bling so I didn’t worry about that too much…  The sentiment is another old fave of mine by Tim Holtz, stamped simply in black.

The Prima flowers & the sentiment panel were inked lightly with Distress Inks & bling was added- including a small corked vial filled with chunky glitter tied to a wide piece of sheer black ribbon.

Wishing you a new year that is full of beautiful moments… let’s all make them memorable!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 26}

Hope your Christmas was full of all things Merry & Bright!  And I hope there is more of that to come as you celebrate the coming of 2016 in the next few days!   I’m not quite ready to say farewell to the Christmas decor and I know there are some great Boxing week sales happening (check out what’s 50% off on the online store!) so I have one last Christmas card to share with you!

This is another simple one, featuring a deer cut out of a kraft colored tag, which I inked up with the Lucky Clover Distress Ink and stamped over in the same color with a sheet music image and added a die cut word & holly leaves (all by Tim Holtz).  I used a piece of corrugate from a coffee sleeve behind the open cut out, painting it with Penny paint first for some shimmer!  I was delighted to find this rustic patterned paper in my stash that matched the green so well!

If you’re still feeling the holiday spirit, why not grab some of your supplies that you haven’t used yet or take advantage of savings and start on cards to send next year (or in the next week or so if you’re late getting them in the mail like me! ha!)

Have a creative day!

Inky hugs,

Tara
