Tuesday with Tara {take 406} Kraft Pinwheels

Happy Tuesday!

I’m back sharing another Playful Pinwheels card (actually 2, since I did it in two color palettes) this time the focus is on Kraft.  I made the yellow version during my most recent Crafty Live on the fb page.  I used a variety of cut outs to piece this card together- focused on yellow blended backgrounds, book print & plain white card.   Once I had a random layout I like, I glued all the pieces in with Nuvo Deluxe Adhesive.  I then grabbed some Distress Watercolor Pencil Crayons in 2 shades of yellow and added some scribbles in some of the empty spaces.   Once I brushed water over them I decided they needed a bit more dimension, so I added a bit of white & aqua to some of the colored petals.

I finished the card off with some subtle touches of glitter.  I’ve used (discontinued) Distress Stickles in clear Rock Candy.  You can purchase the loose glitter still here.  I added some of this to one pinwheel and to my die cut word, which I positioned next to it.  I’ve cut a Honey Bee Bitty Buzzword die twice for a it of dimension.

My second card was done exactly the same, just with a different portion of the inky blended background paper.  I’ve used the blue/green parts and colored with the same tones for a totally different feel to the card.

I love how they both came together, and the dimension you can see by layering the Kraft cut outs over a Kraft background.

These cards were a bit fussy, but not difficult to do.  I also got some great ideas from the ladies who tuned in LIVE with me, and I look forward to giving this card some more seasonal twists!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 404} Playful Pinwheels

Happy Tuesday!

Today I’m sharing a fun card I made with the fun cover plate die by Catherine Pooler called Playful Pinwheels.  This is quite a simple card design, because the die really does all the work for you.  I die cut it from a piece of watercolor card I’d previously inked up with Distress Inks in shades of blue & yellow.  The cut fills up an entire card front, so I chose to adhere it onto a white base.  I cut it in several colors (watch my personal blog & instagram page for more makes!) so I used some of the petals from another cut to fill in one of the corner cuts in Kraft.  I raised one petal with 3D foam squares and die cut a sentiment (from Honey Bee’s Bitty Buzzwords) twice for a bit of dimension.

I finished it off with one little flat back pearl in green for that little touch of bling.  I love the playful, retro feeling and the bit of dimension.  Hope you like it too!

Inky hugs,

Tara

Tuesday with Tara {take 372} Fall is in the air

Happy Tuesday!

I’m back to share another card I made with the Fall Calls for Lattes stamp set by Catherine Pooler, this one has all the apple cider vibes!  Yum!  There’s so many great stamps in this set, and for this card I created a simple background on a Kraft card using a variety of leaves and the apple stamp.  I stamped everything in a dark brown ink, then added a touch of a highlight & dimension with a lighter brown Copic marker.

I couldn’t decide between red or green for my apples, so I’ve used both colors for this fun card!  The little touch of book print adds a bit of a teacher vibe to it… and I know all the teachers would appreciate a little extra kindness today if they are working the day after Halloween!

The finishing touches on this card are a bit of bling, some Glossy Accents on the green apple and some 3D foam dots to pop up that colorful to-go cup!  Hope it makes you smile!

Be sure to join us right back here on the blog on Friday for our November hop… I’ve seen some peeks of the cards the girls are making and it’s going to be a great one!

Inky hugs,

Tara
