Cards

Tuesday with Tara {take 344} Enjoy

Today’s card is inspired by the challenge theme “banners” and I wanted to use up some of the extras stamped & die cut pieces I had from the March Inspiration Hop (there’s still a couple of days to comment on my instagram post for your chance to win or you can go directly to my card here)!

I ended up going with what I call a scrappy style card, since I’ve used patterned paper & pre-made tags, and I also added a few pre-made & stitched banners for another fun element!

I had fun assembling the bits and pieces of this card, which includes bits from

– Birthday Banners by Hampton Arts &
Cupcakes Stamp & Dies by Hampton Arts
but wow… I did NOT have fun taking a photo of this thing and trying to get the colour right!  Please believe me when I say it looks better in person!  It’s very hard to get the different whites to match up, especially when they have slightly different finishes!
I hope you can imagine it and it inspires you to use up some of your scraps to make another card!  Don’t let all those creative bits you didn’t use the first time go to waste!
Inky hugs,
Tara

Have a Hoppy and Sunny Easter!

The calendar has moved into SPRING here in Canada! (I’m just gonna ignore the snow in the backyard…) And so my word for today’s Random Acts of Cardness challenge: SUNSHINE. I was tempted to make a beach scene, because wow, I miss the beach 😉 , but then my thoughts turned to Easter:

I still wanted to make sure my sun motif was prominent, so I started blending my sky background with some squeezed lemonade distress ink to give my whittle sun a nice sunny glow around it. The rest of the sky is blended with tumbled glass distress ink to keep the background light. I was going to cut the grass out of regular green cardstock, but this Photo Play polka dot paper happened to be out, and I thought it would be a fun addition.  The Easter bunny, eggs and sentiment are all from a mini Lawn Fawn stamp set. There are days I might colour all the different Easter eggs… and days like today when I cut them from scraps of coloured cardstock. 😉

Are you like me, ready for some spring sunshine? Hope you’ll play along!

Time to Celebrate

Welcome back to real life after a holiday weekend! Today’s Random Acts of Cardness prompt on the Facebook Scrap ‘n Stamp challenge page is CELEBRATE! It would be easy to use this prompt for a Christmas card, but I’m ready to ease back into regular cardmaking. 😉  Here’s what I came up with:

When a card is this clean and simple, it’s nice to add a bit of a WOW factor, and for me, it was cutting the two My Favorite Things martini glasses out of sparkly blue Memory Box glitter cardstock. It’s one of teammate Jess’s “picks”, and it’s a good one! Gorgeous shimmer, and die cuts beautifully. I also cut a few extra martini glasses out of some scraps of blue cardstock – the narrow stems of the glasses are hard to pop up with foam tape, I find.  For a little background interest, I added a light grey stencil of brickwork… perhaps this celebration is taking place in a trendy bar? 😀  The sentiments come from two different MFT stamp sets, Balloon Bundle and A Toast to You. To finish, I layered everything on a grey card base to pick up on the stencilling.

Just a reminder, if you’re doing some after-Christmas shopping, you can use the code 10Lindsey for 10% off your order! Have a great week.
